I enjoy visiting Model homes for inspiration and ideas. I look at how all the accessories are arranged and how all the colors flow through the whole house. I especially look at the scale of furnishings in relation to the surroundings. Balanced and harmonious. A feast for the viewers eye.

4. Cathy,
There are plenty of model homes in Florida with all the new developements going up!! I agree it is a great way to get ideas if you are a visual person….like me…my problem is that I love so many different looks…my home up North is our family homestead it was built in the 1860’s..we tore off the old kitchen and added a large great room with a fireplace and laundryroom (off it)over the years we have re-done basically the whole house..it is sort of country living style…now that I have my new home in Florida I am staying away from that look and trying to decorate differently…much less clutter. We have many home shows where the builder opens the whole new developement all decorated for viewing..great to dream…. Margie

5. Hello again Margie,
Sounds like your historic family home is very comfortable and full of wonderful memories for you and your family. Enjoy your Florida home and start new family memories down there. Best to you.

6. Cathy,

Love how the scale of the nighstands, plus dark wall and contrasting light accents, really emphasis the spaciousness of this room. Thanks for sharing!

7. Hi Audrey,

You have a good eye. No wimpy nightstands here. They could double as dressers and you wouldn’t need a dresser. That area next to the bed can’t be used for much else, you might as well get alot of functional storage as well as a night table. Also the larger scale of the chests work well with the large bed and headboard. Great contrast of colors as you stated. All the light furnishing pop off the dark wall.
Are you a Stager? Thanks for noticing the details…”reading” the room teaches much.
