Sometimes I find myself somewhat intimidated with large spaces….over the years I have learned to simply “jump in” if it works, it works, if not…start over. A very dear friend of mine gave me this wonderful star last year for Christmas. When we moved, I knew the stairway would be the best place to hang this special piece. I just love how it turned out. It has somwhat of a nautical feel, and yet still very much cottage. I can change the small items on the shelf with the seasons, or any way my mood leads me… I am sure this area will be an on-going project, but then again aren’t they all????

you are right, and I am trying to change small things on the shelf with the seasons……I had a small basket and a vintage rabbit there for spring, and I am looking for a small vintage “uncle Sam” or flag for the 4th of July!
Hopefully I will find one at HomeGoods!

5. Alli, thank you for this great ideas. You’re appreciated. I tell you, i’ve been looking for a way to atleast add some beauty to our stairway but the knowledge was not just coming, but with this your idea, i think i’ll just ave to copy it immediately. I hope i’ll get them at HomeGoods.
