I’ve been doing some Spring cleaning and needed to clean some windows. I ran out of the “blue spray” I usually used. While looking in the garage for anything that might do the job, I ran across a bottle of “De-icer Automobile Windshield Washer Fluid.” (Why we have De-icer when we live in Southern Cal. is beyond me???) But, I thought I’d give it a try. I poured it into my spray bottle and went to work on the windows. Wow! I’ve never seen my windows look so clean. I kept going cleaning more windows. It really worked great. (be sure you read the safe handling directions and follow them.) Just thought I’d pass along a tip that worked for me.
1. What a beautiful view on the outside!

8. Hi Karen,
I just used paper towels. They seem to work OK and the windows really shined. I was surprised at how well it worked. These windows are 25 yrs old so I was happy with the results. Hope it works well for you.

11. Hey Cathy,
I love versatility and multi uses for things, but this is just great!
What was the solution to the lady’s dark kitchen, and where do I look to see the “before” pictures if there were any? I studied interior design, but gave it up when grand children started coming, and we moved to a new house. I was one class away from graduating, but it was easy to give up,because I was not studying to become a professional interior designer, but just because it was a passion of mine that I have, like many other men and women have,so I thought why not study and learn how to do it right. It has been a great belessing to my husband, me, our children, friends, and even customers at (HOME GOODS)stores LOL:) The only part I hated about it was the drafting.(AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)and (YUCKKKKKKKKK),but my(:) husband(
helped with that part. TW

12. Hello TW,
I’m not sure which kitchen you’re asking about. If I come across it I’ll let you know. (The mind’s a terrible thing to loose, LOL)
It sounds like you have a passion for interior design. Its always good to get the education and learn the fundamentals. It will help you all through your life even if you don’t work professionally. I’m sure your home and others reflect your abilities.
Yes, the drafting and space planning are challenging. I really enjoy the elevation drawing and space planning. I render most of my plans by hand because thats a creative part for me. Its like painting a picture, you have to feel and see and touch to have it come to life. Designing on the computer is quick and easy for some, but lacks that emotional connection needed to feel the design for the space…for me anyway.
Good to chat with you.
Happy decorating.

13. cathy, i clean professionally and know that windows that sparkle are a very satisfying, defining part of the job, for my clients and myself! this is an ocean community and trying your de-icer on windows and glass doors that are constantly blasted with salt spray prooved a great success. for those of you who discover streaks , invest in a squiggy, it’s so worth it! gail soward, montauk n.y.

14. Hello Gail,
I’m so glad you tried this and it worked for you, and that you wrote back to let us know. It’s funny how you run across things by accident and
they work better than commercial products. It sounds like you get some tough windows to clean. Yes, a squiggy is a great asset for window cleaning. I’m glad this worked so good for you.
Thanks again for letting us know.

15. Kathy, I’m from Iowa and I have know about using the de-icer automobile windshield waser for a long time. I’ve also used just plain windshield washer fluid, that works as well. Both saves you all kinds of money and does a great job. I’ve also used the squiggy as Gail had mention. All works great !!!

16. Hi Elva,
So glad someone else has used this. Probably many have, I just needed someting and it was there. Luckily the de-icer worked well and could pass it on to others.
Thanks for reaffirming this great window cleaning trick.
