I hope you are not completely tired of pictures of our bedroom. Last time I wrote about it, I said that I was looking for additional pillows to finish off the look. Well, one thing led to another, and of course I have written about how much I love quilts. So, I started looking at quilted shams and found these that I thought coordinated so well with my new quilt. Of course at that point I was certain that the matching quilt was necessary at the foot of the bed. I am so happy with the way it all turned out . . . a lighter look for warm weather, but an extra bit of warmth if it is needed on a cool night.

LOVE IT Do you LOVE IT?

1. Deb,
The quilt and pillows are nice and colors are so restful, perfect for a bedroom.

2. You need to get rid of the dark pillow.Plus your bedroom would even look better if you pulled out a pastel color from t he quilt to paint your walls. It would give your room a cozier look. Kim( Interior Designer)

3. Thanks Kim, I will keep that in mind. A good suggestion.

4. HELLO,
KIM WAS SO RIGHT!! THE DARK PILLOW TAKES AWAY FROM THE BEAUTIFUL QUILTS, AND DEFINATELY A COAT OF SOFT SAGE PAINT.

5. Hi Deb,

With the quirkiness of designers today, it is a do as you please kind of decorating. Most of these people who are decorating and making millions doing it, are not following any rules on what is beautiful. I recently saw in a high end design book, a house that was decorated by a really popular designer. The house was a mess with the most hideous decorations and the article indicated that what he had designed was beautiful. He had a striped couch with plaid, polka dots and print pillows. But they described his design as beautiful.

Deb, you do not have to paint your walls in any other color. If you would decide to paint your walls in sage or a light pink pastel, and your linen selection for th e next year is yellow, you would have to repaint. You don’t want to have to repaint every time you change your decoration for your bedroom.

Keep the white walls. If you are comfortable with your pillow in the darker hue, keep it. It does look nice. You have the contrast with the sconces.

Good luck to you!

6. HI Deb, cozy & pretty! you can keep the walls white–white is always right…the red pillow is too dark for the pastels in the quilt- i think you are going for bringing out that same color in the weath above the bed–a softer color pillow would also look nice—neat headboard—try the pillows laying down to show it off and see how it looks? nighty-night…

7. I think it’s beautiful. It reminds me of a Bed & Breakfast we stayed in…so inviting and cozy. I don’t think this is a “YOU be the decorator” blog, is it? LOL

9. I love the red pillow in the middle of the bed. It really draws out the colors of the room.

10. Thank you to those of you who have added a your words of encouragement. What can’t be seen in this picture, is that all of the wood in the room is dark cherry, there is a deep burgundy chair in a corner, and the dust ruffle is burgundy as well. My winter bedding is a very heavy dark burgundy and gold comforter set. I was looking for a lighter brighter look for the warm weather. I enjoy the cottage look of layered quilts, it just seems to make a room feel “homey.”

11. I like your burgundy pillow … Try replacing the white pillow shams with burgundy ones. The colors in the quilted pillows will really pop. Not to mentioned it would highlight your headboard much better!

12. Hi Deb,

We always have to define our own comfort level. What ever is right for you, and you like the way that you feel when you enter that room/your home/see that special object that brings you joy, that is what you must respond to. It is very hard to capture the entire room in a picture. But, what I see-with the wreath matching the dark pillow, the sconces with the touch of dark red – it is lovely!

13. So far, it looks like you may have created the most controversial room on the whole website. All I can say is — GREAT JOB, DEB!!!! Keep up the good work! When I saw the photo of your bedroom, I thought that the deep red pillow was a great focal point. And you know what they say about red in the bedroom! (I hope this doesn’t violate the Code of Conduct – haha)

14. Deb, I love your room – I am a quilt lover as well. …the only thing I think I see that I might do differently is space the sonces a tiny bit further apart and maybe drop them a little lower than the wreath to follow the contour of the headboard.

BTW, Kathi, …my bedroom walls are a deep red, and I LOVE it!
