Stainglass is often used for artistic and beautification purposes. However, this time it is being used to divide space and define space while providing beautification. The open space like-balcony in the kitchen that overlooks the foyer and provides separation of front entrance and kitchen, is on the second level in this tri-level home. To define separation and not lose the value of this open space, the framed stainglass art was decided upon by the artist and the homeowner, (29″ long and 24″ wide) held by strong chains and attached to hooks on the ceiling. As a result, the artistic work was preserved, the space was selectively divided and the artistic divider was defined.
In partnership, the stainglass shutters were installed in the kitchen and the stainglass transom over the front door. With southern exposure in the morning, there is nothing more lovely then seeing the sun come into the home with the warm glow of radiant colors. The beautification of stainglass provides an opportunity for the light to transcend all kinds of weather. Are you interested in stainglass designing for your home? Try it!

5. Hi Betty,
I love your stainglass art pieces. They are arranged like they are paintings done in glass that you can see from either side of a room. After seeing this the other day, I talked to a stainglass person that does this kind of work and I am asking him to do do a room divider for me for my home. With light coming from both sides at different times, it should be quite beautiful.
I like your style.

6. Hi Betty,
I like these stainglass windows. They are really exactlly what I was looking for and I didn’t know what I needed to decorate until I saw your stainglass that reminds me of paintings that have been made with glass. After seeing the stainglass piece hanging from the ceiling I decided that this is what I need for decorating a house that I am working on. I am going to have stainglass as a divider of two rooms. I talked to a stainglass artist and I have commissioned him to do this for my client.
I have checked you out. I love your style. I will be watching to see whaat else you have that is new. Thank you and you saved my ….

7. Dear Nora and Anonymous,
Thank you so much for the comments. I t sounds as though both of you have the same ideas about decorating with stainglass. what is really significant is to note that stainglass can be used in multiple places for a number of purposes. One of the most lovely places for stainglass is directly under the skylight, allowing the sun to come through directly. Even on a cloudy day or rainy day, you are not deprived of the beauty of the stainglass colors and beauty.
I love the idea of a stainglass divider between rooms. This could be quite awesome!

8. Stain glass is beautiful and sometimes pricey, so I purchased liquid glass paint and painted a bathroom window. The window had a view of the deck and I did want to provide privacy for guests. This idea worked well as it still provides light and now works with the theme of a beach house bath complete with fish, sea shells, coral etc. It was fun to do and everyone loves it.

9. Hi Sheree,
Your painting with liquid glass paint sounds great! Could you take a picture and share your design with us. I know that everyone would like to see it. If I had known about your method, I probably would have talked to an artist to paint it for me. I don’t have the skills as you do (smile). Think about it and I hope that you will agree to share.

11. Hi Carla,
I am glad that you were inspired by the stainglass post. Stainglass has been around for centuries, but it will always be beautiful and stately. Thanks for sharing with us. When I was growing up, our livingroom/dining room windows were stainglass. That early introduction continues to highlight my love for stainglass.

12. I have two skylights in my family room. I am also intersted in painting
with liquid glass and have a few books on the process. What I am
curious about is how to hang the glass from the skylights. Any ideas?
I am a do it your selfer, mostly because I prefer not to pay someone
for something that I know I can do if I put my mind to it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

15. Hi Karen,
Thanks for your question about the mounting or hanging of stainglass from the skylight. Now, first you must know that I don’t have your skills to do this kind of artistic work (smile). (1) In the first house, the stainglass was mounted to the ceiling around the skylight. It was made in the shape of the skylight. It had a fastener on it so that it could be opened and closed at will. (2) In the second house, the stainglass was attached to four chains and hanging from the ceiling below the skylight(close to the ceiling) and it looked as though it was flat against the ceiling from the floor. In both situations, they made absolutely beautifu decor and heightened the perspective in the home!
I like your determination and drive to do what you must or learn what you may to make things work, so that you might get the results that prove to be best for you.
I might have some additional information to share with you soon. Keep in touch!!
