This is an idea I found in a magazine years ago. Take a vanity mirror tie a ribbon at one or both ends and hang it in your bath or bedroom for a lovely accent. At our previous home, I used a grouping on a bathroom wall where I mixed several vanity trays with a few small decorative mirrors. It was beautiful! The mirrors are interesting and offer a nice alternative to hanging just one large mirror. If hung in a bedroom you could also mix in family photos or lovely plates to enlarge the grouping. I love decorating with mirrors, because of the way they expand the feeling of a room by adding depth perception.
1. Deb,

2. I have a mirror question.
When hanging a mirror above a fireplace, how much above the mantle should you hang it?
Thanks for your help.

3. Deb,
What a terrific idea on how to use the vanity mirror. On one wall of our master bedroom, I have many family wedding pictures that need to be enhanced by something, and your idea for the mirror is going to be just perfect…………..Thanks

4. The Mirror looks great in your Bathroom, I’m looking for a pretty step stool for our bedroom. I bought one years ago at Sak’5th Ave. Looking for one for a daughter. Any suggestions?

5. Thanks for all of the great comments! Myrna, I will be thinking about the step stool idea. Are you looking for something iin wood for an elevated bed or simply to be used as decoration or book shelves?
As for how high to hang a mirror above a fireplace Jo, it probably depends upon the size of the mirror. I am fairly tall, so I always have to remind myself to hang pictures a little lower. If your mirror is large, I would probably only go up an inch or two, or maybe even just stand it on the mantel. That way people can see into it easily and any other decorative items are reflected to add depth to your room. Thanks for the great question. I wonder what others would do . . .

10. Hello Deb,
I am loving your idea! The look is simply handsome. I am currently working on enhancing my powder room, therefore, this idea will work great for a space directly behind my toilet. The vanity tray idea is simply danity yet cute! I am sold on the idea.

13. Visiting your website for the first time, I came upon this wonderful idea.
I have several old vanity mirrors with gold filigree (sp.?) around them, in- herited from my mother-in-law many years ago. They sat on my bathroom/bedroom tables with display “goodies” on them just collecting dust. Their beauty and craftmanship was lost for the clutter. I have cleaned the mirror to a shining example of the past, as they are now on my wall with some beautiful ribbon and a few old broaches attached.
Thank you for sharing. Barbara [...]

14. Barbara, I am so glad this idea worked for you. How special that your mirrors have a family heritage to go with them. That makes them extra special.

15. I have a large bathroom; the mirror is also very large going across the length of the double vanity with awful track lighting going across the top. I am thinking of having the mirror cut and framed so it breaks (no pun intended) up the space and opens up more wall space. Do you think it less expensive if I just bought two new mirrors or should I give this a try?

16. Mariana,
I think I would price it out both ways before I did anything. I would think it would be quite expensive to have someone remove the mirror cut it and frame it. I would suggest that you look at the HomeGoods store near you. I am always very pleased with their selection of mirrors that are framed and ready to hang. The one in my other bathroom picture was really quite reasonable. I hope you are able to find exactly what you are looking for.
