The shore house is going up. Pilings are going in tomorrow. Foundation will start next week. As this is a modular home they want to set the house the end of the month. It will move fast from that point on. Would like to be in by the wedding in September.
Need to choose a color for one of the guest rooms. The posted picture shows the bed which will go in this room and the accessories used to furnish the room. There are two windows and a nine panel glass door to the balcony, which looks out to the water. By the way this room gets sunlight all afternoon. My obvious choice would be a light sage, but this is the color I chose for the master bedroom and master bath. Would like a color with some warmth but not too dark. Can you give be a few suggestions.

1. What do you think of taupe? Could be with white moldings or also painted taupe.

2. We just installed and painted 3″ baseboards in our livingroom white. The walls are dark taupe. I think you’d love a light tauge with the white baseboards. Add a splash of color with bedding/pillows &/or curtains.

3. How about a rich coral? A bit wild, maybe, but exciting for a guest room.
Or a coral and cream stripe?

4. I would go with a cream to match the color in the comforter. It would look beautiful with the dark wood in the headboard. It looks like that is what you already have on the wall in this room, at least on the top half. You could also try and pulling just a hint of the yellow that I think I see in the comforter. That may actually be a better choice. Either way, both colors will help with any flow from room to room. Hope all building and decorating goes well!

5. Hi Janice,
I absolutely love the antique headboard. Load it up with lots of big fluffy pillows. You’ll still be able to see most of it. As for color, (the room gets lots of sun), so it feels warm, you could go to the cool side for color. Maybe, blue and white and a deep beigh walls. Take a look at the next post I put up with the staged bedroom I did in blue and white. It might give you some ideas. Best wishes with the new house. Can’t wait to see it. Cathy

6. Have you thought about pulling the yellow out of the comforter and painting the walls? I think a buttery yellow would be great, I painted a room in my house the same color and got so many comments on how warm it was. Just a thought – Happy decorating!!

7. I too liked the idea of yellow but that’s a hard color to choose. Pale Marguerite by Sherwin Williams is a great one that is peaceful and easy to live with. Love the spread.

8. I think a soft light green with pure white base boards would be great it looks like you have that green in your linens!!

9. Love, love, love this headboard. Perfect for a shore house. The design along the top reminds me of fish. Although it’s not exactly what you said you wanted…..I would pick a dark brown hue from the headboard and paint an accent wall and use a rich, creamy white for the other walls. I can picture beautiful white, “breezy” window coverings.

10. I would use the color camouflage by Benjamin Moore it is a great color and works with any color scheme. I have it throughout my house and so does my mother and future mother in-law.

11. Hi, I’m new at blogging but just a thought for you. One of my favorites is the Old Gold line by Laura Ashley sold at Lowes and maybe Home Depot. It’s like Gold 1, 2, etc. I’ve used it alot in houses and everyone lovesit. It would look especiallly good with the old style bedpost. Happy Decorating! It and gardening are my favorite things.

12. Ive been around the block a few times with green . And Im thinking of this great color at Restoration hardware called Silver Sage. Its kind of a green/ blue, Its gorgeous and would look dynamite with this bedding , and it also wont tie you into one color like green would . go to http://www.restorationhardware.com, under utility , click paint.
I also think that this color would look beautiful with the white trim . I also love the bedding and headboard.

13. The comforter on the bed is beautiful. Do you mind if I ask where you bought it? We are looking for a new comforter and not having much luck.
Thanks!

14. Hi Everyone,
This has been a real busy two weeks. Bridal Shower is approaching rapidly and so is the new house. Pilings are in and the foundation is starting. If all goes as scheduled the house will be on the foundation twelve days before the shower. This is just too much excitment for anyone. I have to say I’m loving every moment.
I have been checking the site and have a comment of my own. You, the HG shoppers are amazing individuals. Ask and you shall recieve!! Inspiration abound. I took the ball and ran with it. A trip to the paint store yielded lots of color samples. A small piece of sheet rock with a primer coat of paint and I had a blank canvas. I thought I was about to make a choice, when today I entered the site to comment and Lara posted her comment. Having an open mind I jumped on the web site she suggested. A whole new world of paint. Thank you all. I guess you will have to wait till the room is done to see what I will choose. I can see that you are as thrilled as we are about our blog and I am looking forward to all your thoughts and comments on my home. It truely is a joint effort thanks to all of you. Best Regards, Janice

17. Dear Janice ,
I know you are a busy woman at this time . But if you get the chance to go to restoration hardware, Buy a quart of the Silver sage. Everybody who sees this color asks me , what color is it? who is it made by?
I think you’ll love it. Let us all know , we are excited to see it!!!!

18. Hello,
As this is a “shore” house, you could paint a very pale rosy shell color on the walls (3 shades lighter than the comforter-see Martha Stewart color “shells”) add white high-glass woodwork, white or brown wicker accent furniture (wicker chair with rose/white/green sea motif), dresser, etc. and go with sea accessories, i.e. shells in a basket, gold framed “shore” pictures…great ones at Home Goods Store. Add a dark brown ledge shelf over headboard for a tall sailing ship. Make bedside lamps much taller with white shades or go with sea grass shades. Frame out windows in wide over-sized woodwork and inside mount mahgany 2-inch blinds. No fussy drapes! Not even a valance! Call it your “Key West” room and no one will want to leave!

19. I have a small bedroom with medium walnut stained beam ceiling.
My bedset is patterend and is a dark reddish rust color with hints of dark orange and gold.
One wall has 5′5″ white french doors.
In the summer I change to a silver sage comforter set.
My problem is chosing a wall color to lighten the room without going white.
The wood ceiling changes the wall colors that I have tried.
Any suggestions?

20. Is rust a good color for a family room. It has lots of windows.
The room comes off a kitchen which is painted gold.

21. Hi there, since you like sage and have used it already, I would like to recommend that you check out nonchalant white with accents of sage and another color. It is such a soft, soft sage. It’s just elegant. I used it with trimmings of light sage. It was beautiful!
