I just wanted to share another idea that I have used in my own home to give it a fun and welcoming feel. Our guest bath is off our kitchen. We had the kitchen wallpapered, and the bath painted with the background color of the paper. Since the space was to be used by those who come to visit, I decided that I wanted something lighthearted and interesting. So, I found prints by two of my favorite artists, Doris Morgan and Debbie Kingston Baker, and gave the room a gallery feel.

I made sure the frames were simple and didn’t match. If I should decide that I want to change a picture or two occasionally, I can with very little effort and a little imagination.

5. Well Marina, I don’t think you are “wierd” at all. If you are, than I will willingly join the club. LOL I believe when you are decorating you should be surrounded by the things you love. One of the best compliments I received lately was from a friend who said, ” I just love coming to your home, it completely reflects your personality.” You should love your surroundings. You are the one who needs to feel at home there. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and encouragement. Deb

6. Deb,
I love your prints from D. Morgan!!! Funny seeing the one with the trees and house… I have one very similar I am making in cross-stitch… if I ever get it finished. Fun to see items like your own… I have been told my house is very welcoming feeling. I love all the prints like that - I just wish I could get them done quicker…

7. Michelle, I used to do lots of cross stitch. I understand the getting it finished part . . . LOL. I knit more these days, it takes a little less concentration. I would love to see a picture of your work when it is finished!

8. Although you may have the same theme going on in the pictures, your frames need to changed. They don’t seem to tie the look together. They don’t have to match but they should complement another for a more polished look.

9. Thanks Barbara,

You make an excellent point. What you can’t see from these pictures (the room is small, so the angles were difficult), is that I was cautious to keep only these three different styles of frames. There are about nine picutres lining the walls, and I kept the frames to three colors. I agree it is hard to tell from these pics, but there is a balance and continuity when you look at the room as a whole. I am glad you brought that to our attention though, because it is important when using multiple prints in a single area. Keep the frames simple and coordination is key.
