Welcome Fall!

(Before)
What can you do with some branches, fall leaves, fruit, existing green plants and other stuff you have around the house? Quite a bit… I often embellish the potted plants I normally have, to fit the seasons.

(After)
All together.
I just inserted (or you can lay) the branches into the dirt of the plant to support them. Then add a few pieces of fruit for color, or you could add a few small pumpkins or gourds instead, (they would hold up better outside). It makes a pretty Fall display looking out my kitchen window on the patio.

Going inside… I used basically the same items, but added some dried Indian corn in a white soup terrine to dress the fireplace for Fall.

(Before)
Just a simple plant.

(After)
The branches, a decoy duck and small birds were added. I simply arranged the branches and leaves behind the plant and added the rest. All of 5 minutes.
One more…Sorry to bore you with so many….

The same branches and leaves laying on the cross bars underneith a clear glass coffee table.

A close up. I turned over my patterned area rug to a solid background to contrast the branches and leaves better.
These are all very easy and simple things to do, adding a little Fall decoration without having to totally redecorate. I’m all for easy and inexpensive. Just look at some of the things you already have and add to them.

4. Thanks Diane,
I think you have to look at your old things in a new way. Simply changing a few things around and adding other things to them, helps make them fresh and new again.
Thanks again!

5. Thank You Betty,
I appreciate your comments.
Your creativity really kicks in when you have limitations. The most interesting displays are done on budgets.
Autumn wishes to you!

6. Thanks you Joyce,
No, my house always seems to need a lot of work, but sometimes I get in the mood to change a few things, usually when the seasons change.
That motivates me for a while but not long enough to get everything done I wanted to. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. LOL.

7. Hi Kathy,
I love the simplicity of using fall tree branches…very creative! As a home stager, I’m always looking for inexpensive ways to present a home for sale…and incorporating seasonal decor is always a challenge. Thanks for the inspiration! Home Goods sure is a staple for stagers!

10. Hi everyone, greetings from NH, formerly of MA.
I did design work in the 80’s and it has never left my DNA. I’m in the healthcare profession, BUT the adrenalin kicks in when someone asks, “can you help me in this room”? YES, a huge YES, and I’m off and running. I ask, what they’d like, what is to be used for, what would they like saved etc. measurements, paint samples and off to HG, my favorite store, I can find the most unique pieces, colors, and my friends are asking now for real estate staging. I still work Full time
but my nights and weekends are taken over by the calls for my assistance. I’m so happy and dream in color. lol. I wander around all types of stores, and continually check online for items, if the owner wants to remove from the house. I’m a frequent flyer at consignment stores, antique and of course HG.
this is fun to blog Lynn

13. Hello Gwen,
Thank you, Yes, sometimes simplicity and understatement says much more than large elaborately arranged displays. In my case, time and budget dictated what I could do. Many times limitations can work in your favor.
Thanks again for the nice comments.
