Okay, so I had to share this for my dh. The finished walls in the garage were a huge selling factor for him when we bought this house. We don’t have a finished basement, but I have determined that if we ever wanted to have a larger party, we could use our garage along with our patio. Although, you can’t see the floor very well, it even has sports car decking which looks like checkered vinyl tile. I wanted to share this to say, think of your garage as part of your house. It not only makes coming and going much more pleasant, but it will make your car happy as well!!

LOVE IT Do you LOVE IT?

1. I LOVE IT DEB!!!!!! a woman who accessorizes her garage! My husband would love it! You are exactly right, the garage is an extension of the house and usually the first thing you see when you come home.
GOOD Job!

3. Hi Deb,

I love garages with order! Yours is lovely and an extension of your beautiful home. Your dh should be proud. That is a compliment to be able to use it for other purposes other then parking your car and sheltering discarded furnishings. How wonderful!

4. Deb-
Just a thought…my aunt and uncle put garage doors on both ends of their garage, so when they had a party, they put them up. Everyone had access to both the garage (where the buffet was and also a cool place to sit) and the patio and back yard. It was a great idea.

5. Hi Deb,

Boy, I wish my garage looked like this. So neat and clean for that snazzy car. Love all the flags and license plates decorating the walls.
This would be a great place to expand a party to. “Found space” if you needed it. I bet your husband enjoys his decorated space.
All the best,

6. You girls are so funny! I wish I could take the credit for this. I did help “accessorize,” but the neatness is all my husband. So, Dottie, spit away girl, you crack me up! I must admit I am very thankful to have a neat man. He not only cleans up after himself, he has been known to clean up after me. I know, I would hate me too! LOL

I am one of those people who would rather decorate than clean, so as I go through the house to change for the seasons I take my cleaning supplies along and try to give the house a fresh start then. The rest of the time it is just dust, vacuum, and wash the mirrors.

I must say as with all things, the worst part of any big organization project is getting started. Once the organizing is complete keeping it that way is pretty easy. Did I mention that the kids are grown and out of the house? That helps, too! ;-)

7. Way to go! Decor for the garage. I love all the flags and license plates. Are your license plates on a “plate” rack? My husband could use some organization help from your husband. He is getting better, though. I have my own “workbench” because I can never find the right tool when I need it. LOL

The only decor I have in the garage is my “Never Enough Thyme” sign.

8. Oh, my!
It’s neater AND cleaner than the inside of my house! (yikes…..)

9. Hi Nan, Actually my husband just used small link chain between the openings on the license plates. They hang easily that way with minimal expense. Have fun decorating, your sign sounds great!

Amanda, right now it’s neater than the inside of my house, too. I need to go get busy!!! LOL

10. Help! I’ve been in search of a casual dining room set with no more than 4 chairs, but with style..After searching furniture showrooms with high mark up prices for months..I found the exact look in HomeGoods. However, the set was already sold and just waiting for pick up.

Has any one spotted a glass table top dining room set in HomeGoods? The base of the table kind of looks like a bending X. Please let me know if you have. I’m located in PA.

Thanks so much.

11. Great post! As a home stager, I work with clients to prepare their homes for sale. I always spend some time in the garage because often it is the last room toured in the home and leaves a lasting impression. While women tend to have more say in which home is selected, men too can feel a connection with a well-staged garage! To read a recent article I wrote about it, visit http://www.roomsthatwork.com/resources.html.

Have a great, organized day!

12. Hi Kim,

We understand you are trying to locate dining sets. As an off-price retailer, we make every effort to keep our prices low, and our costs down, so that we can pass these savings on to our customers. For this reason, we do not provide a service of tracking merchandise. In addition, we do not have the privilege of ordering specific merchandise from our vendors. To locate the dining set, we suggest that you continue to check with the stores in your area directly. We would be happy to provide you store locations in your area. If you would like a store list, please call our Customer Service Department directly at 1-800-888-0776.

Thank you,

15. I miss it….

I miss that great big cement lined hole in the ground up in New England, that my house sat on. That’s right… the basement. My wife and I now live in Florida and based on the water table, a basement here would be referred to as a nice indoor, inground pool.

So… Your garage becomes an extension of your living space in the south, and until seeing this it never ocurred to me why in New England the wall that touched the rest of the house was finished, and in the South ALL walls are finished. It’s so they can be “finished” by my wife when she runs out of wall space inside.

Thanks,

John & Holly

16. Thanks to Mel encouraging my dh, and to Nancy for encouraging we bloggers. Feed our egos and we will go on and on and on . . . LOL

John, you are so right about Florida and the garages. My parents live in Fort Myers and many of the folks in their development have screens that come down at the garage doors so that they can use that space as an additional room. So, if your dw is finished decorating inside, let her go crazy on those garage walls. It can be lots of fun!!
