We awakened to temperatures in the mid sixties this morning only to be promised rain, sleet, and possible snow before midnight with the low reaching the teens. Welcome to winter in the middle of the country! LOL! I read Cathy and Alli’s posts and wonder why I love it here so much. I will have to think about that, because I truly do love it here in St. Louis.

Now for my real reason for today’s post. I don’t know if you are a fan of breakfast in bed. I am too much of a worrier about spills and crumbs . . . so when it is time for a festive meal, I usually try to come up with something to make the meal at our kitchen table feel special. So, I have set the table planning for a future Valentine Brunch. Because of the weather I tried to see what I could come up with from the things I already had on hand. I love seasonal placemats and use plain white dishes year round, because they go with everything. I didn’t have any valentine napkins, although I probably could have come up with some red cloth ones. I decided that it might be fun to layer some cocktail napkins that I had gotten a couple of weeks ago. I found the little individual sized candles and thought they added an extra touch of romance to the settings, just be careful with the paper napkins!

Finally, I want to share my creamer and sugar idea. It is so easy and is so much fun! I use a martini glass and tiny spoon for the sugar, and a little carafe for cream. I have several that I can use, but the set pictured here happens to be my favorite. So, get creative and let us see or read your ideas for the coming weeks. I’m sure there will be Super Bowl Parties and Mardi Gras festivities, maybe you celebrate Groundhogs Day (okay, maybe not) and then of course Valentine’s Day. So, share your ideas and post your pictures. We love to know what you are up to as you decorate and celebrate!

1. HI Deb,

Your Valentine brunch table is so nice. Cute placemats and some great ideas you have. What a pretty setting to sit by the window and watch the snow. You probably are tired of it by now, but it looks beautiful to me. I haven’t thought to much about Valentines Day yet but I will. Thanks for a head start and sharing your fun ideas.
Stay warm.

3. Hi Hope,

We would have great fun shopping together at HomeGoods. My husband often thinks that I have “fallen in the black hole” when I stop for what I say will only be a minute. I intend to get in and out, but treasure hunting is just sooooo much fun. I saw that airplane teeter totter, it was great. My latest find this week was a cute wreath for the front door. I will post a picture as soon as I get it out there. It has been so cold this week, it seemed like I was jumping ahead of the calendar. Have a wonderful weekend. Remember to send in pictures and comments of your lastest finds.
