Do you need a fancy but easy idea for breakfast on Valentines Day? Try Valentine Strawberry Pancakes. You will need…

* Any size heart shapped cookie cutter/ or a heart template, and cut out heart shape on pancake with a knife
* Favorite pancake mix
* Red food coloring
* Fresh strawberries cut up / or strawberry jam
* whipped cream, canned or fresh
* Chocolate shavings or sprinkles

Add a few drops of red food coloring to the pancake batter.

Cook pancakes on a griddle slightly bigger than the cookie cutter or template.

Let pancake cool a little, then press cookie cutter into the pancake, or cut around the template. Repeat for as many as you want.

The end result…This has two heart shaped pancakes. One on the bottom, next layer is whipped cream then a thin layer of cut up strawberries, then another pancake, whipped cream around the outside of the heart and strawberries in the center. Sprinkle chocolate shavings or sprinkles on top.
It looks fancy-shamancy, (but so easy). Your family or special someone will think you went all out for them.

Happy Valentines Day!

1. Cathy,

That looks delicious! I love pancakes and the way you have decorated this one makes me want to go into the kitchen and make pancakes—or maybe go to Bob Evans and order pancakes (smile). As always, this is great and a wonderful addition for valentines day. It starts the day just right.

2. Thanks Betty,

They taste pretty good too. Kind of like Strawberry Shortcake only with pancakes.

4. Hi Carol,

It’s very easy. You could adapt the shape of the pancake to any holiday.
Shamrock for St. Patty’s Day, egg shape for Easter, flag shape for 4th of July, etc. I hope you give it a try.
Thanks for commenting.

6. Hello Gabriella,

Yes, pink batter does look a little strange. But the end result is worth the strange beginning. They do taste delicious….unless you don’t like pancakes.
