There are so many beautiful and decorative pieces that are made around the world and they contribute so greatly to enhancing our homes and the places that we call our residence. I love shopping and I love finding unusual and decorative pieces that can become conversation pieces for the homes that I am privileged to decorate. It’s amazing. I get an adrenalin rush when I walk into a store and see decorations for the home that can often mystify the shoppers design expectations. Sometimes I ask myself, excitedly, “what is this for and where would it go in the home?” That is where creativity comes into being for you and me.
What about these beautiful chargers (pictured above) that are encircled with rhinestones, with the black and gold toned design;

Or, this wonderful Greecian designed bench;

Or, this beautiful mounted disk with this oxydized overtone;

Or, this gorgeous world globe;

Or, these two beautiful decorative pieces of a mounted gold-toned and brushed silver disk, with this awesome sculptured piece that apears to be incomplete (The incompleteness enhances the beauty);

Or, this beautiful and decorative floor plant holder, made with broken pieces of tile- selectively placed to enhance the international design, holding this wide variety of beautiful artificial plants (you may decide to change to natural plants);

Or, what about this lovely decorative cherub angel that appears to be in flight and incomplete;

And, what about this beautiful and unusual hand- made glass sculptured ball that has these amazing bubbles that grace the inside and mystifies the observer, while highlighting it’s uniqueness.
These are all beautiful and unusual pieces that represent the decorative world of treasures that surround us. I find tremendous difficulty deciding which piece/s would be my favorite choice, but it might be easier for you. Which of these would be your choice/s for purchase and where would you put them in the home?
1. I love all of the pieces displayed. I can see how they would add such character to the room. They are great conversation pieces.

2. Hi Richelle,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It’s always great to hear from you. You are right, they would add character to the room that they are in. Keep in touch and let us hear from you again soon!

3. Hi Betty,
My favorites are the charger, the oxydized disk, and the glass piece. I have no place to put them. However, not having space to put items on display never stopped me before. I would just put some items in storage and display the new finds.

4. Hi Betty,
There are too many great things out there to buy. You’ve found some nice pieces. Any one would add beautifully to a room. I really like the clear glass bubble sculpture. Its so interesting and would go in any style of room. I’ve noticed you were drawn to circular shapes on most of these pieces. Its interesting how we gravitate to certain shapes, colors and styles. A lovely collection. Thanks for sharing them.

5. What beautiful display pieces! I am looking for some sculptures that have arms and necks so that I can display some of my jewelry on instead of placing it all in jewelry boxes. The pieces you showcased were gorgeous. I simply buy what I like and then I find a place for it later. Needless to say, I have quite a few objects. I have purchased everything from candlesticks to armoires, and everything in between from Home Goods. I love teapots, dolls, crystal, clocks, chairs (especially chairs), Asian and African Art. My home is bursting at the seams, I’m decluttering, and trying to create an airer feeling. I admit to being an ecclectic, I see no other way to live; I love so many different eras, genres, and styles. The next time I decide to redecorate, I think I’ll go with modern, I haven’t done that in a while.

6. Hi Glenda,
I know exactly what you mean. When you see something that you must have, you make a decision to replace what you presently have with the new pieces that you find and purchase. Sometimes you find, after awhile, that there are many items that you have put in storage that have lost there place and their significance in your heart and home, as a result of your new finds and purchases. The items that you selected are exciting, interesting and thought provoking pieces. I love them! Great choices!!!!
Let us know what you decide to purchase (smile).

7. Hi Cathy,
You are so right! I had not noticed that I was concentrated on circular pieces. That is really amazing! We all have our moments when we gravitate to specific styles, colors, designs, etc. I was so fascinated with the hand-made glass ball that I tried for quite some time to determine how the little balls were positioned inside. It is truely a wonder to see!
Thank you for taking the time and sharing your wonderful views.

8. Hi Sandra,
You sound like my kind of person. It is obvious that you adhere to the HomeGoods logo, “Live the Life without Paying the Price.” Like you, I love nice things and like buying them when I see them. If you noticed, Glenda (above) said that she has to find storage for the old to bring in the new that she likes. You two are on the same wave-length. I’ll bet that your home is another HomeGoods (smile). You sound like you have an exciting life. We could all learn from you.
Thank you for sharing! Let us hear from you again soon.

9. Greetings to all,
I find my tastes have changed as I mature/get older, and of course where I live and the season….right now we are renting a house on the water and obviously I’ve had great fun pulling out all my beach/seashore items to display. We have two green Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay in our yard, and my signature summer shoes are navy Keds (think I am the only person who still wears them!) …don’t you know I was lucky enough to find fabulous notecards with a simple GREEN ADIRONDACK CHAIR AND A PAIR OF NAVY KEDS next to it! What luck! You never know what you’ll find at Home Goods, I try and get in to browse once a week or more. Home Goods has also allowed me to decorate with glass bowls of sheels, mirrors with shells around them, prints of shells on stretched canvas, lighthouses, and many other wonderful items. For things I’m not currently using or think perhaps I won’t need in the future, I “recycle” them to my sister “on permanent loan” and she LOVES the new look it gives her home.
Happy shopping! Carol

10. Hi Carol,
I am like you, I love HomeGoods! It appears like you have beautiful pieces and you sound like a real member of the HomeGoods family. So, when you buy something else and want to recycle the pieces that you have presently, I am sure that you will have an army of people waiting in line to compete with your sister for the beautiful pieces (smile). I love the idea of “permanent loan.”
Have continued shopping fun! Let us hear from you again soon. Good luck!!!

11. Hello
I love your blog!!
I have a question. I hope I am in the right category!
I painted my dining room a harvest yellow color or almost like a manilla envelope color! I have a bay window in the dining room and on another wall is a set of 2 windows attached to each other. I live in a very secluded area. I am looking for window treatments purely for decoration. I really don’t want to take away from our view and light, but I don’t like the look of a bare window. I was thinking of panels, but I don’t know what color would compliment this color paint. I am thinking of a heavy white panel? I would greatly appreciate any feedback of any kind, weather regarding the window treatments or any other decorative ideas
Thanks, Jill

12. Hi Jill,
Your dining room sounds wonderful! It is a nice bright color that makes your room come alive. The windows in that room also sound great and you don’t need to do anything that would take away from the beauty and the view. The heavy white or cream panels would be great or you could consider sheer white panels that in both cases could keep your view and the beauty of your room in check with tie backs . What are the other colors in that room? You might consider panels that contrast with other color combinations in that room. There are two other colors that keep coming to mind and they are a light green color or a turquoise. Both of these would also be great in your dining room and would contrast well with the yellow wall color. Does the dining room have chair seats that are covered with upholstered material? If so, you could get contrasting panels that would pick up that color you want highlighted and really enhance the room. What are the other pieces of furniture in that room?
There are so many beautiful pieces that could really enhance that room and the entire environment. I would have to know the size of the room and the type of furniture that is in the room. Any of the pieces that you see above, except for the Greecian Style bench would be great for adding pizzazz to that room. Now, the globe is debatable and it might be considered more appropriate for an office or a study room. However, that is, again, where creativity comes into being. This globe is a beautiful piece of furniture that would be marvelous gracing any home.
Happy decorating! I hope that I have been helpful. Let me know how you make out.

13. I’m not computer savey so with this handicap I am trying to go on your website and find somewhere around a 23″ rather heathery style wreath to hang over my fireplace in my fireside room. I used to have one that was beautiful with straw flowers and all light in colors for my furniture is colorful(off white background with burgandies, deep reds and sage green floral with tads of off yellow. I have two fireside high wingback chairs flanking the Bone white fireplace surround. I know your store very well in Mt. Olive just haven’t been there lately and was wondering if you have wreaths of this size and soft colors. My home is a tavern style home copied from a tavern in Virgina, the room other than a sofa and love seat is all off whites. Perhaps you have something other than a wreath that would work over my fireplace. Please reply

17. Hi Elizabeth,
You chose fabulous pieces! These items are from HomeGoods. As you know, HomeGoods is an off-price retailer and makes every effort to keep prices low and cost down in order to past savings on to customers. For this reason they do not offer a service for tracking merchandise from their vendors. They suggest that you contact the stores in your area and if you can get there, you have a pretty good chance to see if they have the merchandise that you are seeking. To learn of the stores in your area contact the HomeGoods Customer Service Dept. at 1-800-888-0776.
Now, this is a great time to get into decorating. First, you might go to a Community College in your neighborhood and find out if they have a course in Interior Decorating or Interior Design. You would truly enjoy this course. It really stimulates your creative skills and highlights what talents you have in the field. You will learn a lot and also make some great contacts. For many of the courses you can get certification for Interior Decoration at the conclusion. You are not required to be certified, but it can help. Because of your interest, you sound like you would be a great candidate. Let me know what you do!!!!! Congratulations and move forward with the goals that you have for your life!

18. I went to five different stores to get the ball with bubbles in side. They said that they sold so fast. I would love to get one for a wedding gift. If I can’t, I’ll get the cone lanterns instead. They are beautiful to. Do you think that they would make a good wedding gift?
These are good suggestions. Thank you.

19. Hi Dina,
I am so sorry that you have not been able to find the hand-made glass ball. It is quite a beautiful piece and would make a wonderful wedding gift. But, the cone-style lanterns would also make a fabulous wedding gift. They are most unusual and I am certain that the couple who receives them will be quite happy. They are so unique and true treasures.
Good luck to you in your search.
