We have had a fireplace in each of our last three homes. The last two have been without mantels. I was really hoping for a mantel this time, and occasionally I look for one to attach or stand in front. However, with the marble and the mirror, there really isn’t a great way to mount a mantel.

So, I have chosen to decorate the floor instead. I love candles and these metal holders just make me happy. That is really the criteria I use when I decorate. I want my home to be a place that pleases me, and hopefully that will make others feel comfortable when they come for a visit.

I have taken two pics, one with a flash and one without, just so you can see things a little better. You see the one without the flash is so much more romantic than the one with flash. So, I am off to spend some time with my dh, now that I have the candles lit and the mood set. :-)

LOVE IT Do you LOVE IT?

1. Hey Deb,

It sounds like you had an exciting evening! I won’t ask for details…wink, wink! Very romantic and cozy.
Your fireplace is beautiful, simple but elegant. beautiful style and design.
I love the way you brought down to the floor what might have been on the mantle. Very nice approach in thinking that through. It makes sense and works well. The additional lit candles expand the feel and warmth of the fire.
Your right about making your home please you. Your things. That’s what gives a home, life and personality. Not a cookie cutter page out of a magazine.
Thanks so much for sharing the warmth of your fire and the warmth of your soul.
Take Care.

2. Cathy,

Thanks! The only thing we have to be careful about is making sure that the dog doesn’t set her tail on fire when the candles are lit. LOL

3. Hi Deb,

Your fireplace is gorgeous! You don’t need a mantle because it would change the beauty of the fireplace. It looks like marble and that look is exciting. I love the idea of the candles and the tall candle holders that grace the fireplace and contributes to highlighting the room. I remember this color of the candles being the color theme of your bedroom. It looks very comfortable and fun.

I know that you and your dh had great fun and celebrated the moments.

4. Thanks Betty,

For now the mantle will just have to be a dream anyway, but I certainly appreciate your positive comments to the look just the way it is. You are right about the color . . . deep red/burgundy is a favorite and one I not only love to use when I decorate, but one I love to wear as well.
