I love hand towels in the bathrooms, in the powder room, in the kitchen and other rooms according to my needs and my family’s needs.  a lot of times when you have company, you want soft and lovely hand towels that accentuate the colors in that room.  Also, you want the containers to highlight the colors in the room as well.  I decided that it might be interesting to make hand towel holders that would be creatively different while meeting the needs of the family.

I decided to:

1.  Plan designs for the hand towel holders;

2. Get this small storage box/chest (Similar to a small jewelry box) and a medium sized hand-made basket ;

3.  Identify the color paints that will be most appealing for the occasion, the interest and the spaces that they will occupy;

4.  Identify a design that could and would transcend seasons;

5.  Remove the red and black paint from the box with paint remover; 

6.  Prepare the box and basket for spray paint;

Supplies:

1.  Paint Remover

2.  Paint (the color that you desire)

3.  Sea Shells (You can decide on the decorations)

4.  Permanent Glue

5.  Polyurethane

6.  Decorative Sand

Process:

1.  Remove the paint from the box

2.  Spray paint the box and basket

3.  After it dries, spray with polyurethane

4.  After it dries, glue the sea shells on the box and then on the basket according to where you want them strategically

5.  After the box is dry, spray the polyurethane where you want to position the sand.  

6.  Sprinkle the sand on the box in places where you have the polyurethane ( Do it quickly.  Don’t allow the polyurethane to dry) 

7.  Let them sit, until they are dry.

8.  Then spray the sand with the polyurethane and the sand gives the appearance of being  wet

9.  Let it dry!

This box can be used for holding paper hand towels (hanging outside of the box) in the powder room or it might be used for holding other objects for the bath or other places in the house.  This box is very versatile.  The basket has been made for holding cotton hand towels and/or wash cloths.  However, this basket can be used any place in your home that you would like and you can determine the color, the design and the purpose.  A larger basket would be great for large towels and wash cloths.  Did you get the feeling that the design of the light blue paint and the sea shells were highlighting the fun of the sea shore?  Good!  That was the purpose.
