Mother’s Day is the day that we all get to shower our mothers with attention. We are suppose to be doing wonderful things for them anyway, but this represents a special day when we can do extra special things to show how much we love and appreciate them. I miss my mother every day. We were such good friends and she was the most unselfish and caring person in the world. She often provided our home as a shelter in the storm for many. Without reservation or hesitation, she was a “miraculous mother.” I was blessed with wonderful parents.
As a result, my tribute is to “Make Mother’s Day a Happy Day.” It doesn’t mean that the mother has to be a biological mom, but the one who has cared for you, loved you, sheltered you, protected you, nursed you, corrected you when you were wrong, and praised you when you deserved it. There is nothing like a loving mother who loves her child or children unconditionally. So you want to say, “I appreciate you and all that you have done and for what you continue to do.”
There are also those persons in your life that might or might not have children and you have loved them because they have been like a mother to you and maybe you have not known them very long; however, you know that they care about your wellbeing. But, for you that person represents that “Mother” image.
Here are a few suggestions for Mother’s Day gifts:
This is a beautiful floral arrangement of Feather Grass Spray (above), Hawaiian Ginger and Protea Spray. These are faux flowers that look and feel real.

What about giving your mother tableware, glassware, flatware or a teapot set? I have provided a variety that you might consider. You can always buy all if you think that this would be what your mother would want or need. If you notice, the flatware varies according to the tableware. The glassware is all one set. I chose to share a set of 6. However, you might purchase a set of 8 or a set of 12. The primary point is that you want to make this great woman happy on her special day.

What about luggage? This is an inexpensive gift that is beautiful, useful, sturdy, and will stand out among the luggage that you see when traveling. When was the last time that your mother got luggage? Did you have an opportunity to check out her luggage that she has presently? Is her luggage battered? If she has had her luggage for a long time, she is due to get new luggage.
Whatever you decide to get her, don’t forget the Mother’s Day Card. Just think of it this way, if you can’t decide what you want for her and you have no idea what she wants, give her a gift card that she can use any place and any time. Now, if you are a mother, I wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day.
Let us know what you are getting for your mom and what your children are getting for you for your Mother’s Day.
1. What a legacy you have from your mother. I too have been blessed by a mom who loves me and always is thrilled to hear my voice or see my face and shares with anyone in need. My mom is aging and I find that the most helpful gifts nowadays are those little things that make a difference in her quality of living. A task light with magnification is this year’s find to make it easier to do her puzzles plus a stack of jigsaw puzzles she can work on and then pass along to friends.
Large Print Books, a new non-slip mat for the kitchen, a wrap to keep chairside for cool evenings — are all gifts my sister and I have been adding to her home to make it a little easier for Mom.
But, the best gifts, the ones she treasures the most, are outings with her family. It’s easier to travel and shop when there are younger women to drive, to navigate, to notice and point out things that older eyes might miss. I love to spend time with my mom, it’s a gift that goes both ways.

2. Hi Joan,
What treasures you have! I love the way that you speak about your mom and the time that you spend together. I would give anything to be able to have one day with my mom. Like you, I valued every moment. I love to laugh and we laughed and had so much fun together. Continue to envelop every day as if it is your/her last. I love the joy and love that you and your sister so unselfishly share with your mother. It’s the simple things in life that really matter. You have been a wonderful reminder of the greatness and the tremendous love for my mom that will stay with me forever and can never be replaced or modified.
My mom loved her family, her beautiful home and she enjoyed planting flowers and participating in the growth and development of lovely things all around. When I think of beautiful things, I think of my Mom.
I strongly believe, Joan, that we should celebrate everyday as if it’s Christmas. And, when it comes to Moms, celebrate with Mom everyday as if it’s Mother’s Day.
Have a blessed holiday!!!
