After all these wonderful European travels Mitch has taken us on, It’s hard to look at our own backyards with such adventure. But, our own yards can provide wonderful mini vacations until we can dip our toes into that blue Mediterranean.

With Memorial Day fast approaching, backyards will be heating up…in more ways than one. The ‘grillin and chillin’ season is upon us.

Whether you enjoy a yard complete with a cool relaxing pool and state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen…

…or kicking back in a fold-up lawn chair, blow-up pool and “Weber” heating up on the deck. It all says relaxation and enjoyment.

For some reason food always tastes better outdoors, off the grill. I think it’s the atmosphere and company. Also a bit of sunshine, kids laughter in the yard, and that glorious smell of burning Bar-B-Que sauce. Ummmmm, now that’s summer!!

Does anyone have any super good grilling recipes to share?? We would love to post some before M.D. Thanks so much!

Have a great “grillin and chillin’ Memorial Day!

1. Hi Cathy,

I believe everything tastes better when cooked outside because, quite frankly, that means my husband is probably cooking it. LOL

While I don’t have any recipes to share, I can share what we do with our neighbors (who all have kids). We spontaneously call everyone to come for dinner and bring meat and a side to share. The grill is fired up and the men make themselves at home grilling while the kids run and play in the yard. The mom’s just sit back with a glass of wine because they’ve already made their side dish earlier in the day. It’s great fun!

Have a great memorial day!

3. Hi there Susan,

Thanks for adding your thoughts. You’ve got the right idea on ‘Grillin’!
If the guys like to grill…let em! Your get togethers sound like great fun and not a lot of work for anyone…my kind of get-together. It’s all about relaxing and enjoying everyones company.
Have a great time with your girls and friends on M.D.

4. Hello Julie,

I hope the weather won’t be too bad. You can always have an indoor bar-b-que. One easy crock pot dish I know…

get a pork roast or 4-6 pork chops
1 bottle of bar-b-que sauce
1 onion cut into rings

Lay onion rings on the bottom of the crock pot.
next, lay the pork on top
and pour the bar-b-que sauce over all. (don’t add any water)

Slow cook in the crock pot on low for 6-8 hours.
serve with your favorite potato salad, macarori salad or green salad.
Add some sliced watermelon. Yummmm.

You have a pretty decent “Indoor bar-b-que” !!

Have a great time no matter what you do.
Thanks again for all your great thoughts and support.

6. Hi Keila,

No, the grill in the post did not come from T J Maxx/HomeGoods. But, I’ve seen some really great looking grills similar to this at HomeGoods (and probably alot cheaper in price). They may still have some at a HomeGoods in your area.
Thanks for asking.
