I’m home! I had a wonderful visit with my children, and of course seeing my grandbaby was the best! He has grown from one pound nine ounces to five pounds. We are so very thankful for the progress he has made and is continuing to make.

One of the reasons for my visit was to attend a baby shower where I met some of my “daughter’s” friends and coworkers. It was great fun! It was a relaxed party, and I liked that! It was a good reminder that when friends get together to celebrate and have fun, the relationships are what is important. It isn’t always necessary to pull out the good china and crystal. Paper plates, paper napkins and some streamers work just fine. The diaper cake you see in the one picture made an adorable centerpiece and is practical for use later (it is impossible to have too many diapers for a newborn).

We oohed and aahed over the beautiful baby gifts. I was amazed at all of the choices there are for babies now; decisions go way beyond the simple pink or blue basics. I enjoyed the fabulous textures of the blankets and clothes, no need to irritate sensitive skin these days! Even if you don’t have a baby to shop for, stop and feel some of the products in the baby section - a moment like that can calm even the most hectic day.

There are items which keep baby comfortable in both crib and stroller, mind stimulating toys, rattles, and artwork, musical this and that, and stuffed cuddle items for soothing. I am having so much fun back in the children’s department again. It would be great to hear what you like best among today’s baby products. What do you like to give friends and family when a new little one comes along? This Gram is always looking for suggestions of ways to spoil her new little guy!
