My daughter recently moved into a brand new apartment. We loved shopping for furniture and accessories together. Her taste is traditional/modern, where mine tends to be colonial/traditional, but we have fun together and appreciate the other’s style.

This is a picture of her dining area. I love dark wood at the moment. One of the things I like about it, is that you don’t have to try to match tints and woodgrain. Dark pieces like these will mix in with any future wood selections, so the pieces will work no matter how your tastes and styles change.

I love her new bedroom furniture. Picking up on Cathy’s post Blue and White . . . Always Right, this bedding is something I believe she will enjoy for a long time. Don’t you just love the pop of color she added with the red throw and the lamps? And talk about doggies living in style, Betty, her little princess is spoiled beyond imagination! LOL

Finally, I have a question for you? This is something my daughter and I have been discussing over the past weeks. You see, we are a tall family! Therefore we have a tendency to hang our artwork too high on the wall. We are conscious of that, so when we are hanging a piece of art that stands on its own, without any furniture nearby; we occasionally question whether we are placing it too low. After that run on sentence, I hope you are grasping our problem. :-) If you have any rules you follow, would you please send them our way . . . or is it really just a question of preference?

After looking at all of the new things at her house, I have the bug to get busy myself. So, I’m off to clean and maybe make a change here or there as well!

1. I dont have any rules, but I come from a short family…..and when my tall friend would come to my parents house, one of the mirrors was too low to see her whole head. But in my house now, any decorative mirrors we hang on the wall are too high for me to see in. If it looks good to you, then that is the right height.

2. I have purchased all kinds of mirrors large small medium no matter. I have used them to add decor to my home while giving the illusion that the area is larger than it really is. My home has depth and very lovely I owe it all to Mirrors. Especially unique mirrors they give charater to any home. Put them were you want they always look great.

3. I agree Joyce, thanks so much for the tip. I too believe that mirrors are a beautiful addition to any decor. They open up the space and show off the various angles of the surrounding items. Thanks again, we always appreciate input from our readers.

4. Thanks Andrea,

It is a real challenge to decide how high to hang pictures and mirrors. Thanks for your input. Wouldn’t it be great if someone came up with a general rule of thumb. We could choose to break it or follow it. LOL I would really like some guidelines. Thanks for tossing in your thoughts.

6. Milagros,

Thank you, I will share your enthusiasm with my daughter. She also has a very long hall as she enters her apartment. One of the things she did was to place a table and floral arrangement right inside the door. This provides a welcoming atmosphere immediately upon entry. I have also used collectibles or candles on a pony wall to add interest to the space. A row of votives in varying colors, shapes, and sizes would be lovely also. Please let us know what you decide, and we’d love a pic if you are able.

Thanks, Deb
