A Fresh Start 2
I promised to give you a continuation of the post about my daughter’s new apartment. She has now lived there for a couple of months and tells us that it is starting to feel like home. As you will see, her little dog has found herself very much at home there, and I do believe there will be no looking back!

I love the way she has decorated her living room. She fell in love with this red sofa and chair, feeling free to use rich color in the furniture because the walls in a rental usually remain neutral. The piece of art over the sofa is metal and very heavy. She had it professionally hung, which I recommend if you have any doubts at all about doing it yourself. It sure is better than having it end up on your head! The throw over the back of the sofa, was an idea we came up with to draw the eye down. She felt that after the art was hung that was all she looked at. It was amazing how a couple of taller lamps and the throw, tied the entire grouping together. The leather ottoman and multi-colored area rug add well to the mix .

I want you to notice that although each of her end tables is different, they coordinate well. They are the same color and style and each is the perfect height, coming right to the level of the arms on the furniture.

Oversized chairs like this one have always been favorites of mine. This one sits next to her gas fireplace and will make a perfect spot to cuddle up with a cup of tea, a magazine, and her little dog!

A Fresh Start 2
Speaking of her little dog, This end table was a find she discovered on line. You can see it’s exact location to the right of the sofa in the first picture. She didn’t have an out of the way place for a regular dog crate, so she began looking into furniture options. I think this does the job perfectly. It keeps her puppy safely enclosed when she is away, yet is still a nice looking piece of furniture. Doesn’t every spoiled little critter need a castle to call home?

1. Deb: I LOVE your daughter’s dog crate solution — very ingenious. The whole room is great, but that is the piece de la resistance.

2. Thanks Joan, She is actually visiting right now, so I passed along your kind words. We have a large wicker crate in our laundry room, for our own dog. The idea of having it as a piece of furniture enables my daughter’s dog to get out of the way and still be wiith the family.

6. Ashley,

Isn’t that a great piece. She found it at a store in KC. I will have to check with her to find out which one. I do know that other places are showing similar things, and the store did say at the time that they only had that one sent to them. I hope that helps. Keep your eyes open and if I see anything similar I will post it here. Deb
