Greetings fellow home enthusiasts! I can’t tell you how many wonderful folks I’ve met while browsing the aisles at HomeGoods – it’s a friendly group! It’s easy to spot a true home enthusiast – they are excited to chat with you while shopping about their latest project or cherished find. As part of the Openhouse Blogger team, I’m thrilled to be able to chat online with you as well!

Just a bit about me – I currently live in Connecticut where the winters are too long but the summers are beautiful. I’ve moved three times in the past 10 years, and am originally from Ohio (yes, I’m a Buckeye!). I’m a mom of two girls, ages 3 and 7 and own a home staging and interior decorating company. Like many of you, I’m perpetually striving for the perfect balance between work and home. I’m not sure it really exists, but I’ll keep looking!

My favorite decorating tactic is to use what I already have, and augment it with something new and unexpected. I view decorating as a puzzle – switching items between rooms, rearranging and painting to create new spaces. Once I find my inspiration for a room, I just need to add a few items here or there to finish it off. I’m always amazed what a big difference a small change can make.

So what is my favorite style? I favor clean lines, comfortable furnishings and dramatic surprises. I’m a nut for functionality as well. I believe a bathroom should be built for speed, and a family room should practically keep itself picked up.

My biggest challenge in my own home is trying not to stage it while living in it! I have to remind myself that it’s ok to create a wall display of personal photos, or let my 7 year old paint her room pink. However, if I move again, I’ll hire another stager to evaluate my home – I’m just too close to it to see it objectively.

I love my job because I get to help clients see their home in a new light, whether they are moving or simply want to enjoy their home more. I’m thrilled when I can help them solve their own puzzle, and find that perfect accent to finish their room. HomeGoods has been an invaluable resource for me and my clients, and I’m excited to be part of their team. Thanks for reading my first post and I look forward to making many new e-friends here!

You are so kind! I’d love to stop by OH and visit family and squeeze in some work if I could…it’s hard to think of it as work, however!
