Summer BucketSummer is my favorite season by far. Sadly, it’s only a couple months long here in the Northeast. After running inside one too many times for frequently used “stuff” I finally got practical. I keep frequently-used summer items in a colorful bucket on the kitchen counter near the door to the deck.

So what is in my summer bucket?

Stuff that kids inevitably need during summer fun:

 Tissues
 Wipes
 Sunscreen
 Bug spray
 Band-Aids

summerbucket2Now when we head outside, I grab the bucket along the way, and we have fewer interruptions during outside play. Bonus – it adds a splash of color to my kitchen and keeps the counter clutter to a minimum!

Whether you have kids underfoot or not, there are always things you need within reach in summer.

What items would you keep in your summer bucket?

1. Susan,
I love your idea. I don’t have kids, but I agree that these buckets are perfect for cute and colorful storage. While not quite a “summer” bucket, I do use the same bucket (in white) in my bathroom - in it I keep rolled-up washcloths in a rainbow of colors.

2. Hi Katherine,

Great idea! I love creative ways to add a splah of color to any room! I also advise staging clients to put their daily use toiletries in a bucket so they can quickly store them under the sink when the home is being toured. Thanks for stopping by!

3. In my house when the kids were young, the bucket would include bubbles and sidewalk chalk!
