I am so excited! Most of my friends know that I love to talk – and if I have a new discovery, I find it very difficult to keep it to myself. I have been sharing the magic of Google lately. I was with friends the other night and in less than thirty seconds we had found a pattern for covering a lampshade with fabric. It was great!
Through the magic of Google, I found a fabulous site that is going to be my new friend. LOL HowStuffWorks!
This site has page after page of how-to ideas. You can almost throw away all of your old Do It Yourself books and get the information you need right here. The amazing thing is that Home & Garden is only one of many catagories. It was however, my favorite catagory. Especially the decorating tips section.
In our part of the Midwest many schools are beginning in the next couple of weeks. Organizing their kids rooms and preparing them for the start of another year in the classroom seems to be the focus for many parents at the moment.
Although my children are grown, I enjoy looking at decorating ideas for kids rooms. I find the bright colors, the energy, and so often the simple desire for a feeling of fun to make their rooms far from boring; to the contrary they can be inspirational. There were many excellent ideas for creative ways to make kid spaces fun and functional.
Where you might not have the courage or the space to put a basketball hoop in your son’s room, you will find other ideas to inspire and motivate both you and your child. So, check out HowStuffWorks on your own and with your kids. Then let us know what inspired you to help them get ready for the start of another great year in the classroom and at home.
1. Only 3 weeks to go til school (not that I’m counting) and I’m fighting the urge to redecorate my 2nd graders room (again) just because it’s fun. I settled for new fabric on her chair and I added a pretty bulletin board over her desk. But who am I kidding – it won’t stay picked up!
I love the basket ball hoop – I’d add a dirty duds bag underneath it!

2. Susan,
All of these cute kid’s rooms, it’s hard to resist the urge to redecorate. I remember the picked up part – that’s why bedrooms have doors. LOL I agree, I loved the basketball hoop, too. I think your idea of a laundry bag is great! Our son played bball in school and wow would he have loved a room like that one.
