Even though Labor Day is upon us, I’m not ready to let summer slip away yet. I love summer. The sun sits high in the sky, the days seems endless, and life seems more laid back. Sadly, summer seems to dissolve faster than wet footprints in the sand. So, I’ve tried to capture many of the sights and scenes in photographs.
I was looking back through some of my pictures I took this summer, and found many could stand on their own as matted and framed art. Digital cameras and computer programs are so easy, and good these days, anyone (including me) can take great photos and adapt them to any application.
I always have my camera with me in my purse, ready to grab and click away if I see something of interest. Just having that camera with me, I seem to notice things alot more, and try to capture the moment both mentally and on camera.
Here are a few reflections of my summer that might inspire you to photograph some great ART in your area, …it’s there, around every corner.
Summer is…
- A sailboat docked in a bay window.
- A tandem bicycle leaning against a tree.
- A whale weather vane pointed out to sea,
- Overflowing windowbox full of geraniums
- Waves breaking on the beach.
- Surf shorts house flag.
- A sailboat out to catch the wind.
- A dutch door open to the sea breeze and sun.
- Beach towels and wet suits drying on the porch.

- An open window with flowers.
- An old rowboat anchored in a sea of ground cover.
- A shell wreath hanging on a picket fence.
- A cart full of found shells near a front door.
- Beautiful coastal views.
- A friendly pelican perched on the pier.
- Surfboards taking a sun tan.
- Sea creatures in tide pools.
- Writing in the sand. (”Hi Julie”… to my sister)
What was summer to you? I hope it was just as captivating. Find those great photo shots that tell a story. You’ll be surprised at all the “accidental art” you’ll find.
The Fall season will be coming up…get out those cameras!
Have you done anything with photography that’s fun and exciting? Love to hear your ideas or comments!
1. What a beautiful place! I love the Dutch door….and the wet bathing suits laying out to dry.
I should make a collage like that, they’re so pretty!
Home Goods opens up in my town in October, I can’t wait!!!

4. Hi Julie,
We’ve had some great times together and many more to come. Speaking of photos…you’re the queen of scrapbooking, and you do amazing photo layouts with pages of creative story telling with pictures and embellishment. What a gift you have…a real art form. I know you take a camera wherever you go. Great memories.
Thank you for all your great support and encouragement through the years.
You’re the best of all,
LYC

5. Oh goodness, reading your post was wonderful therapy! I feel so much more relaxed now! I for one am in denial that summer is ending. In fact, I’m redesigning my 2nd graders room to reflect the power and serenity of the ocean. Guess that’s one way to keep summer going all year round. Thx for sharing the wonderful photos!

6. Hi Susan,
I’m glad you recieved some therapy…no charge! LOL. Yes, something about the ocean is so relaxing. It’s where I go to unwind. Been there alot this summer, what does that tell you.
Your daughters room sounds wonderful. Post a blog when you get it finished. Love to see it.
Enjoy the rest of the summer…I don’t know where it went this year.

8. Hello Alice,
I’m glad you like the collages. They are just pictures I took in my area and my Picasa Program can turn them into a collage format from single pictures. So, they arn’t for sale, but if you can fiqure out how to copy them from the site, your welcome to do it.
Your lakeside condo sounds wonderful. Maybe take some pictures like this around your lake and turn them into a large collage or two. You’d be surprised at what makes beautiful art and it would reflect your wonderful area of the country.
Wish I could send a HomeGoods store to you. I know you’d love it.
Thanks for dropping in and write back soon.
