Shades of purple are appearing everywhere this fall and a good client of mine has given me permission to share some of the amazing before/after pics of how we created her Lavender Dream bedroom.

As you can see in these “before” pictures, a dated flocked blue wall paper, heavy furniture and LOTS of clutter made her room feel closed in and crowded. She was more than ready to lighten up.
The first step was to declutter the entire room. Old magazines and papers were recycled. Old clothes, bedding, books, and electronic equipment etc. were donated.
Next, the old bedroom suite was sold. Finally, a professional was called in to strip the wallpaper, patch and paint the walls, trim and closet doors. New blinds were also professionally installed and new carpet was laid.

Once the renovations were complete, smaller scale furniture provided a lighter and more minimalist look to the room. She decided to make the bed the focal point. A lavender upholstered hanging headboard flanked on either side with soft sage green shades was the perfect backdrop for a pile of purple and green pillows.
After years of living with clutter my client is now enjoying a minimalist look. She chose to keep the accessories limited to some artwork she’d created herself, a few treasures and her beloved cats.

Of course there might be space for another decorative pillow or print when just the right thing catches her eye….something more to dream about.
1. I keep seeing the commercials on tv, and thought this is my kind of store! The HGTV fanatic I’ve become and all, I had no idea there was one so close to me, and was trying to get a better glimspe then the sixty second commercial. A little disappointed that was not available. Until next time, Sincerely, DEBI

2. Debi - nice to know there’s another HGTV fanatic. And I’m so glad that you were introduced to Homegoods via their new commercials. Imagine having a store SO CLOSE and not knowing about it. You have to visit.
What I LOVE about this store is the “one of a kind” finds — you might not be able to get the same great deal your neighbor found, but then again, they won’t get your great deal either. LOL. Enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

3. I live in the center of NE. I have just recently saw your add on HGTV. I have never heard of your store and I was excited to see the e-mail address because I wanted to be able to shop at home. I have been able to get in on some of your screens but I don’t seem to be able to look at the different varity of items you must have under a title. I am looking for different bedding.
Thanks for your help

5. Hi Gloria:
Yes, unfortunately there’s no on-line shopping at Home Goods at the moment, but you should check if there’s a store within easy driving distance of you because it is a WONDERFUL way to spend the day. Take a girlfriend, have lunch on the way, and make sure you have lots of room in the trunk to haul your purchases home.
