autumn on the porch 1
With it’s relaxed atmophere and casual wicker furniture, there is no better place on a summers day to relax in the shade than on your porch.  But, the same place that we sat sipping lemonade this summer is even more wonderful in the fall!  Start your nesting, by gathering up extra pillows, cozy colorful quilts and some of mother natures colorful accents.  It can be the perfect place to read your favorite magazine, drink hot chocolate, write in your journal or just while away the hours daydreaming.

cozy throw
On my porch, I filled a vintage maple syrup bucket with small tree branches full of colorful fall leaves.  I add a little water, and change the branches out all season long with new branches when they begin to wilt.  In an old enamel pitcher, the last of the zinneas from my garden, echo the color of the changing leaves.   A couple of pillows and a cozy throw, in autumn colors, finishes the look.  You could add a bowl of acorns or pine cones.  Some potted mums would look lovely too.  I would love to hear how you change your porch in the fall!  And remember, you can click any picture to enlarge for detail.

3. Love the red rooster pillow, Penny. I add an old quilt that my Mom made when she was 16. It is wonderful to wrap up in it and enjoy my morning coffee.

24. Hello Penny!

You ahve the best ideas!

These photographs are so beautiful! The reds in the flowers and the little pillow just make the whole porch light up!

I wish there were a Home Goods store close to me –I live in Brooklyn, NY and have to drive quite away out on Long Island to find one to shop in. I always find such wonderful things there! I love that store…if only it were closer!

Thanks, Pat
