I’ve had a long time love affair with chandeliers. They add so much beauty and character to a home. The brilliant cut crystals and draping prisms add so much sparkle to any room. I’ve always felt like they were the final touch. The jewelry so to speak of a home.

The pink crystal chandelier was purchased from HomeGoods last summer and adds a romantic touch to my daughters room. And at the right price! Her room has a bit of French flair to it and this makes her feel like she’s living in a jewel box. (You can click to enlarge any of the photos to get a better view.)

I’ve also had very good luck in finding truly unique chandeliers while shopping my local flea markets. I picked up this enormous one for my dining room for around $100 and….the cream and leaf chandelier for my office for $25! You can’t beat those prices if you’re willing to take your time to browse.

I’ve even added them to my kitchen by hanging one over my sink. At first my husband wasn’t sold on the idea but now that it’s up and on a dimmer, he agrees it looks fantastic. Next on the list is to find one to hang over my bathtub. The thrill of the hunt is part of the fun!

Of course, the standard tract house entry way chandelier was replaced with this birdcage beauty when we first moved in. It’s still a favorite of mine. I’ve also added them to my outdoor patios and swing, giving them a magical glow at night. But I suppose I’ll have to save those for another post.

I’d love to hear about the lighting changes you’ve made in your home and the ways you’ve been able to add that extra sparkle with your own unique touch. Chandeliers don’t have to be expensive to add glamour. You just have to keep your eyes out for that perfect piece of jewelry!

1. I would love to find a chandelier for the guest bedroom I’m redoing. I’ll have to check out HomeGoods. If I had my way, I’d have them in every room.

2. Even my husband couldn’t believe how a chandelier in the kitchen changed the entire kitchen. My two favorite ways to change things up… paint on the walls and the right chandelier! Blessings… Polly

3. Hi Heather! I adore all of these chandi’s; not sure which is a favorite!lol I have a builder gaudy brass one I took down from diningroom which I’m planning on spraying black and beading some crystals/prisms to hang over my bed; I just painted a simple one black from bronze for my kitchen and it’s waiting for prisms, my dining room one is black curly iron which again is waiting for me to get going and hang the prisms! In the meantime, I’ve also used the prisms/crystal beads to make jewelry for the five small windows above my front door! Thanks for inspiring me to get moving instead of just planning! Sincerely, Jeannette (I’m kicking myself I didn’t pick up one of the black cake stands I saw at HG with the crystals hanging off it!)

4. I don’t think I’d mind having a chandelier in every room. Good luck finding one for your guest room Elaine. And Polly, I agree the chandelier in my kitchen is my favorite new addition. Thanks for stopping by ladies!

5. Hello! What a great article and lovely pictures! I am in total agreement with the idea of having a chandelier in every room! I am looking for two chandeliers for our bedroom and one for our bathroom. Can you tell me where you found that lovely one bulb chandelier at the bottom of your article? I haven’t seen chandeliers in my Homegoods in Staten Island, NY. Bt I will keep an eye out and check in Jersey! Take care!

6. Hi Heather,
I love the use of your chandeliers. Beautiful!
I had an ugly overhead light ove my kitchen sink, and I replaced it with a small chandelier. It makes such a difference. Warmer and cozier, and of course much prettier.
Thanks for your wonderful post.

7. Hi India,
The chandelier in the last picture is from Lowes. I like to have a mix of vintage and new chandeliers so I’m always on the lookout no matter where I’m at. HomeGoods is having it’s largest lighting event of the year starting October 23rd and it may be the perfect time to drop by and see what they have in stock. Good luck with finding the perfect piece for you!

Hi Rosemary,
It seems that quite a few of us are replacing our kitchen lighting with chandeliers! What a glamorous way for us to do our dishes. Thanks stopping by and leaving a kind word.

Have a wonderful week ladies! Heather

8. Hi Heather,

Thanks so much for sharing your source! You know I saw Nate Berkus use chandeliers from Lowes also! Also, thank you for the heads up on the lighting event. I will check it out and let all of my friends know too. Keep up the great work!

9. Hello Heather,
Thanks for the inspiration. I’ve always admired chandeliers from afar. I would always stop and stare and think maybe someday. After viewing your pics and reading your message I feel my thoughts were not so far out after all. A chandelier can go beautifully in any home. So perfectly worded too, “jewelry for the home”. BEAUTIFUL !!!
Thanks Again , Cathy

10. Dear Heather,

Loved your article and all of your beautiful chandeliers ! I too have always had a love affair with them, but it wasn’t until recently that I bought my first one, for my dining room, at a consignment store for about 250$. It gives me such JOY on a daily basis. Can’t wait to totally deck out my whole condo with them, as you have done. Lowe’s, here I come !
Thanks for your sparkling inspiration, Heather,
Cynthia

11. I love lights too. My problem is getting them hung. An electrician charges $100-250 just to hang a new light. So needless to say, I dont buy because its a pain to get them hung. Any suggestions. Julie

12. I also love chandeliers…I have a tiny 640 sq.ft. cottage..No central air. It gets hot in the summer (Arizona) so ceiling fans are a must in most rooms…I hated the lighting that came with the fans…Looked everywhere for a long time…Finally I found great chandeliers that attach to ceiling fans at Lamps Plus website…Now I can have the best of both worlds..A fan & a lovely chandelier all in one..Prices were reasonable too.

13. Has anyone found a Lenox Chandelier recently at HomeGoods? They had them a couple of years ago, but now I can’t find them anymore at any HomeGoods store.

15. What! Am I the only guy that’s into chandeliers?

I especially like the one you have in your dining room. And for $100… wow! That’s a deal. That one and the one for your office… and for $25. Wow! I’d say you’re a pretty good shopper.

I’ve been looking at chandeliers all night on the web tonight. One of the most original ones I have ever seen is here:

http://chandelierlightbulbs.com/chandelier/gummi-bear-chandelier/

Original and beautiful. I want to try to make my own but I can never think outside the box like that. Amazing.

You have a pretty good eye for chandeliers, Heather. Thanks for your article and pictures.

16. I had tried finding a resource to buy some quality and contemporary chandeliers, at last found a good one at http://www.superiorlighting.com.

17. It’s not from Home Goods (which i love, love, love!) but it is a beautiful chandelier in Florida — with shells! It’s in lobby of the SandPearl Resort in Clearwater Beach.
