Inn at Dresden
For many of us, this time of year is a favorite. The changing colors, cooler temperatures, and the beginning of “nesting” season. I have always enjoyed getting away for a few days in the Fall to enjoy the change of the seasons.

Last week, my dh and I traveled with two of our favorite people to visit basket country in Southeastern Ohio. We enjoyed wonderful conversation and lovely scenery, but the primary reason for this post is to tell you about our “home away from home,” the Inn at Dresden.

This home was built by Dave Longaberger, the man who began the Longaberger Basket Company. Learning more about him and the impact he made on the people of that community was a blessing in itself.

Hallway in the Inn
Back to the Inn . . . I don’t have enough space to say all of the wonderful things about this beautiful place and its hospitable innkeepers. First of all, to call them innkeepers seems so lacking, because very quickly these kind folks seem like very dear friends. Their eye for detail and feel for hospitality is exceptional. Not to mention the food! Oh my! Breakfast each morning was fabulous, and we are still talking about the amazing dinner we enjoyed our last evening there. I would love to be able to give you all of the details about the kitchen, but you must go for a visit and check it out for yourself.

View from the Inn
Lastly, I want to show you the view from the balcony that wrapped around the outside of our room. I can imagine being delighted with this view no matter what time of year - Fall colors, Winter’s snow, Spring blossoms, or Summer sun.

I don’t normally consider writing a travelogue here, but this experience was too special not to share it with all of you. So, please check out the links to the Inn at Dresden and the Longaberger Basket Company, I’m sure you will be able to find an idea or two to incorporate into your own decorating scheme.  However, if you actually get a couple of days to do some traveling, treat yourself to the pleasure of visiting them in person, your efforts will be greatly rewarded.

3. Sorry Linda,

My dh - is my “dear husband”. I guess it’s a bad habit from too much computer time. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for asking.

4. Susn - GO BUCKEYES!!

Oh, you should see the Buckeyes/OSU stuff we came home with. We even got a few photos inside the stadium. Saturday at our house means you don your scarlet and gray and get ready to yell at the TV like someone really cares. LOL Oh well, it’s all in good fun! I must say though I feel like quite the traitor, since I grew up in Michigan and cheered for the Wolverines for years. My dh finally won me over to the other side.

What a wonderful state, Ohio. We actually lived in Columbus for a year, and I would have loved to have stayed there. Wow, it is so much bigger now, than it was 30 years ago. I used to love to go shopping on game days, because piped the game into the stores, but they were empty of customers. All at home or the stadium . . . thanks giving me this trip down memory lane. It was a wonderful trip!
