I’ve seen the cutest holiday dishware in the stores. I wasn’t going to get anything, just look, but these pumkin plates caught my eye. The problem was,  I didn’t want to spend alot or have too many to store.  So, I thought I’d buy just 4 of them and mix them with dishware I already had, for dining as well as decorating.

I don’t have a lot of orange in my house, but I do have some black and white dishware,  in checks and a damask pattern. I thought it would be fun to…

mix them all together for a bold look. It seemed to work for a fun holiday like Halloween.

I used the black and white damask plates, as a charger, under the pumpkin plates.  Then added in the black and white check plates for a geometric accent and a bit more punch. There are also Toile candlesticks in the mix. I thought this table setting would be fun for breakfast or brunch on or near Halloween.

The napkin ghosts are just white paper napkins. Here’s all you do…wad-up 1/2 a napkin for the head. Place this in the center of another napkin. Wrap it around the wad and tie with a ribbon. Draw on two black eyes and set it on top of the drinking glass. Kinda fun!

When the table isn’t set. Use the dishes for decorations. Line them up on the fireplace mantel, or display them in a bakers rack or hutch. Hang them on a wall.  Set them around the house with candy in them or give them as a cute gift.

I love to decorate with plates. They’re functional as well as decorative and can be used year after year, by themselves, or mixed with dishware or accessories you already own. Mix and (mis) match for an eclectic feel. You’d be surprised at what works together. Give it a try.

5. Hello Mary and Andrea,

Yes, amazingly enough these black and white plates go with alot of entertaining color schemes. I put red with them at Christmas. Pastel yellows with them in the spring, oranges in the fall, silver or gold for more formal settings. They really give a bold accent to the table.
I purchased all of them at different times over the years at…you guessed it…HomeGoods. They ranged from $3.99-5.99 per plate…such a deal! Get them when you see them or they’ll be gone when you go back. The Halloween plates were recent finds.

Thank you both for inquiring about the plates. Keep your eyes open, they’re some great ones out there.

6. I cannot believe these are the only charger plates homegoods carry. I am totally disappointed.

7. Hi Ana,

HomeGoods purchases all of it’s merchandise “opportunistically”, meaning that we buy the best brand name and quality merchandise whenever available. Our buyers would rather go a little lighter in a particular department, rather than buying merchandise that does not meet our high standards for price, style and value.

Currently, if we do not have the selection of plates that you are seeking in our stores, please be assured that our buyers are always out there looking for more. Please continue to check with your local T.J. Maxx store as each store receives over 10,000 new items each week.

We appreciate your inquiry.
