I have a space on a shelf in my hall closet that is reserved for inexpensive but fabulous little gifts. You know, those times you wish you had a a little something as a hostess gift, or teacher’s or coworker’s surprise, and you don’t have ten spare minutes to run out and find? Mmm hmm, that’s what this shelf is for.
When I am cruising the aisles at HomeGoods or TJ Maxx I often times come across perfect little items that are just the ticket…it will save you time later and won’t break the bank either.
Think about this next time you’re out running errands. You just might end up saving yourself some time later, and some money too!

1. Yes, I also keep a “stash” of gifts. Sometimes when I buy things I have a certain niece or nephew in mind. Other times, I just spot a good deal and pick it up. With three kids I never know when we will get a birthday party invitation. Of course, my stash doesn’t look cute like yours. My gifts are just thrown in a plastic tub in my closet.

2. What a great idea. So many times something unexpected comes up and you wish you had a little something for someone. A thank you gift comes to mind. It seems that by the time you get around to remembering to buy something it feels too much time has passed so we usually just give a card. Having a little something more on hand would be nice.

3. What a great idea, Tracey! I sometimes do this, but most of the time I find myself racing out to find the gift when I find out I need it. In terms of my close friends and family, I tend to stockpile gifts (particularly Christmas gifts) that I see and know they will love. But this is a good idea for those “happy” gifts. Thanks for this helpful hint.

4. I do love to have a gift shelf. At times mine looks a little like yours. Now that I’m making more things, I’m trying to challenge myself to take from that stash or make a little custom ’something’ when I have time.

5. I buy gifts all year long as I find the wonderful treasures I know a loved one would like and appreciate.
I store mine in a large plastic tote and when November rolls around, I shop the tote and most of my holiday gifting is done.
When I have really good luck, I add a second tote and sort them by family members, daughter, friends, etc.
It saves time and oh, the money it saves!!

6. What a terrific idea! I need to do that…I find myself racing to the store before birthdays or just those days I need something special. I might have to try this! Thanks
