Few pieces of furniture have the versatility of the ottoman.

Whether made out of leather, fabric, wood, plastic, rattan, glass, metal, or foam, the ottoman is much more than a functional footrest these days.

Styles range from sleek contemporary to tasseled traditional, and have transitioned from the easy chair to a statement piece,  sitting front and center in a room.

With a wide range of sizes, there’s an ottoman for any space and need.

10 Uses for Ottomans…

  1. Extra seating-group 2, 4, or more.
  2. Coffee or side tables-set a large tray on top.
  3. Seat at the foot of the bed.
  4. Good old footrest.
  5. Extra storage inside storage ottomans.
  6. Decorative accent piece in a room.
  7. Dressing seat in a bathroom or closet.
  8. Storage seats in childrens rooms.
  9. Entry seat in the foyer.
  10. Ottoman sleepers fold out to make a guest bed.

Can you think of any others?

Ottomans can be found everywhere and in every price range. They are fairly easy to recover if you find one that needs a facelift, as this one did to the left. Even an old coffee table can be turned into ottoman. Or, make one from scratch…it’s just a box.

I like to make the ottoman a focal point in a grouping, contrasting what is anchored, around this island of interest.  Like a piece of sculpture, it is noticed at first glance, and can be a wonderful functional accent piece in the room.

Put your feet up and relax, you’ll love the possibilities!

1. Recently I saw a brown oblong zebra print ottoman in your store here in Tampa . When I returned the next day with a bigger vehicle to pick it up it was sold. Ever since that day I have been calling every Homegoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls within a 50 mile radius in case they are in stock once more. This is running me crazy because I really loved that ottoman.
What can I do? any advice??
