If you are a last minute panic kind of girl like I am, you are beginning this week in frenzy mode. My dh and I both celebrate birthdays, and no, I won’t tell you our age.
Our neighbors homes are all decorated for costumed visitors, and my house remains in generic Fall decor. On top of it all this is a very busy work week for both of us. So, where do I begin to prepare for the week’s festivities?
I began by searching through my bookmarked online magazine sites. Once again, I found my answer at Country Living. This magazine suits my decorating style and the general feel I am going for in my home. You may want to google your favorite magazine to discover their online treasures.
My favorite page on the site was a full calendar of daily ideas for the month of October. Now, I know the month is almost over, but I found pumpkin carving suggestions, centerpiece examples, and this really yummy looking Baked Stuffed Pumpkin Casserole recipe.
So, my suggestion for last minute girls like me. Don’t remain in panic mode! Don’t sit and spin, frustrated that your creativity is failing you! Spend a little time searching the many online resources . . . you just might find that perfectly simple idea that will add just the right amount of festive flair to make this week special at your house.
1. What a great site!!!I am having our annual halloween party and usually not last minute, but we have been having some renovating in the basement and they just finished Saturday. My huge party is next Sat. I am so behind. These ideas are amazing and easy for the most part. Than you so much for this fabulous find.

2. Hi Deb,
I actually keep “inspiration folders” by room for clients…just clipping ides from my fav mags. It’s getting overwheming, however. Might be time to start scanning them and storing in a database so I can search for specifics more efficiently!

3. Susan, I have files, too. I love pulling pages from my magazines, but your suggestion to scan them into computer files is awesome. I am going to have to consider that one. Thanks!
Elaine, I am so glad you are enjoying the site. We have so much fun here. Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your thoughts. I know your party will be a huge success.

4. Yea, I’m sure I’ll be scanning and adding keywords in my “spare time”!
Might need to hire out for that task, at least to get it set up.

5. Susan, I like the hiring out idea! I have a pile of torn pages just waiting to be filed, or scanned, or something.

7. Hi Janice,
Thanks for stopping by, It’s nice to here from someon close to home. As far as flea markets go, I’m not real sure. I know there is a huge flea market each year on Memorial Day, at the Univ. of Missouri St. Louis campus. I believe there are also some weekend markets in some of the towns around StL.
What I would suggest is watch your local paper, Google: flea markets for your area, and I keep my eye on the calendar section of Midwest Living magazine.
As far as home furnishings, I am addicted to HomeGoods. I am there at least once or twice a week. I also shop TJMaxx and Marshalls weekly.
Besides those stores, I will occassionally hit WeekEnds Only, and I also like looking around the warehouse stores for ideas. I guess I am much more of a browser these days, rather than a gal on a mission.
I wish I could be more helpful. Your question will have me looking more carefully. Let us know if your search is successful.
