I have a friend that always decorates so cute for all the Holidays. She made these darling pumpkin, chair back covers. They are simply made from felt and tie on the back and front of the chairs. You can sew them together, fuse or glue them to make these adorable cheery chair covers. You also could make more of the same for placemats or a table runner. She has 3 kids, and a husband, and uses them on her 5 chairs. It looks so fun all together.
I also ran across this idea… These mums are simply set in their plastic pot in a ceramic pumpkin. I think it would really be cute if the mums were placed the same way, in real hollowed out carved pumpkins. Maybe, 2 arranged this way on the mantle or out by the front steps or porch. This would also be an easy but great gift to give or table centerpiece.
I’ve enjoyed walking around my neighborhood, taking pictures of Halloween displays. Everyone gets into the “spirit” and we always get a large group of goblins begging at the door. But, I’m way behind this year. I still haven’t purchased my candy, and was hoping to come up with some treats, other than candy to pass out.
Do any of you have ideas, other than candy, that’s inexpensive but fun for kids to get for Halloween? Love to hear your great ideas! Others may like them as well.
Have a Hauntingly Happy Halloween!
1. Cute chair covers
Try pencils….stickers…
cute small erasers
spider rings from a novelty store
Whatever you do will be great…cuz everything you do is great!

2. Cathy:
Little bags of pretzels or party-mix, a packet of hot chocolate, a juice box, individually packaged cheese sticks etc. are a little healthier than candy but should still be something the kids love.
For non-food items try stickers, mini super balls, fake tattoos, or whistles.
Happy trick or treating,
joan

3. Ideas for trick or treaters,
Youcan do snack size bags of chips, pretzels, we did microwave popcorn one year(they come individually wraped), you can dress up the popcorn with cute paper “sleeves”. Bubbles are fun for people of all ages and are really fun when the weather is freezing. If you can find them at the dollar store mad libs are a non food alternative.
Good luck to you and your little visitors.

4. I use the felt Halloween treat bags from the local dollar store and clip the handles. I then tie them around the seat backs of my chairs and best of all, they cost me $1 a chair!!!!

5. Hi Julie, Joan and Jeanna,
I love all your TREAT ideas, that are other than candy. I’ll look around the dollar stores or even party suppy stores for some of your ideas, and whatever they might have. I think they get enough candy, so a little toy or healthier treats is always better, I think.
Thanks again for helping me out! Great ideas!

6. Hi Annette,
Wow!, that’s a great idea…and only $1.00 a chair…and not much work putting them together. I’ll check those out when I’m in getting my treats!
You guys always have the best ideas!
Thanks for sharing!

7. Some fast food places have coupon books for sale. Each coupon provides for a free small bag of french fires. It’s not necessarily healthy, but it’s not candy! You will spend more than you do on candy as well, but the same can be said for pencils, pretzels, etc.
I once gave out small bags of gorp (peanuts, sunflower seeds, raisins or other dried fruits, a FEW M&M’s) to neighbors who knew me.

8. Hi Megan,
Those are great ideas too.! You might spend a little more but if you don’t get a lot of kids, then you can spend more to give healthier treats…Then turn out your lights when you run out…LOL.
Great ideas you guys, keep ‘em coming.
