Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and if you didn’t know it already, I am a bit of a tabletop fanatic collector, and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so foofy-ing up a fnatastic table for the big day is right up my alley.
I don’t usually buy complete sets of dishes but rather, I prefer to mix and match. Some thrifted finds here, some TJ MAxx/HomeGoods treasures there. Oh, it’s all such fun! (And so much more affordable when you do it this way!)
You know, when most of us think of Thanksgiving, we think in colors of harvest; oranges, reds, browns and deep greens. That’s all well and good, but still…predictable. Last year’s Thanksgiving tablescape at my cottage was all done up to highlight my favorite Robin’s egg blue-green, with accents of chocolate browns and a yummy cream colored pumpkins. I used little Christmas ornaments that were acorn picture frames and used them as placecards to add a nice personalized touch.
How about you? What colors do you use for Thanksgiving table design?

3. I have to tell you, I have a new found friend – TJMAXX. I went in the other day and got the BEST lamp for $15, a great, beautiful frame for $8 and lots of odds and ends for Christmas. But the lamp was the best. It was originally priced at $200. The arm that holds the great shade was loose – took five minutes to fix it. It’s an adorable birdcage with bird and then the great shade hangs over the cage. TOO CUTE. I love TJMAXX for dishes and frames, baby clothes, shoes, purses (yea!) and towels. I expect to spend well over an hour in the store each time I go in. Thanks for getting me in again. I’d sort of forgotten about it.

6. You are so good with tablescapes you’ve definitely got the touch. I never would have thought to use that blue but it looks fabulous. I saw those turkey plates at Homegoods last year. I went home to think about buying 12 and when I went back for them they were all gone! So sad.

7. Wouldn’t have thought to use the Robin’s Egg Blue, but it looks great.
Do I see a little of that blue in the turkey plates? Perfect!!
I tend to stay with the traditional colors, but need a change.

8. I like your tablescape! I often use black and white for Thanksgiving. I have black and white toile in my kitchen, so I use a black tablecloth, white dishes and black and white checked napkins. The centerpiece is always colorful, though-the oranges, creamy yellows and reds look so pretty against the black background.

14. We use our most cherished mix and match heirloom family pieces at Thanksgiving, and we each share a memory “thank you” moment for the realitive who left us with our favorite special china/tablescape pieces. Giving thanks is the most important event in our lives at our home. Remembering those from the past who made sacrifices for the special embellishments in our homes is always the most important event of the holiday, from the turkey platter to the little porcelain acorn salt and peppers. We even decorate with the oak leaves from our 200+ yr old tree that our ancestors planted in Dad’s front yard.

15. Such an elegant table! It gives me the nudge to this year think pink… with a burlap table cloth. What I can’t find thrifting I’m betting TJ Maxx or HomeGoods will help me fill in the gaps for goblets and napkins. Now I am all eager. Thanks. Jenny

17. I LOVE this!! May I ask where you got, or would suggest finding a burlapy-type cloth such as you have on the table here?? And is it trimmed in anything? I’d love see the edges! Beautiful table setting!!

18. The fabric in my photos is simply inexpensive burlap. It sells for about $2.99 a yard at most fabric stores and it also comes in other colors. So affordable, and perfect for a rustic autumn look!

20. Tracey,

This table is absolutely beautiful. I love the Robins egg blue.
Your photo has inspired me to incorporate some of this color
(by way of candles, & pottary) into my fall kitchen decor.
I also have used ceramic pumpkins in my kitchen window box,
along with some festive wire baskets filled with fruit ornaments
and pine cones. It’s never looked prettier.
By the way, I love your mini – christmas photo frames used with
names. Do you remember where you bought these? they are so
pretty. Thanks for your great ideas.

Regards,

Marie

22. Tracey,
What a beautiful tabletop! Robin’s egg blue is one of my favorite colors, also & it’s georgous paired with the browns you’ve chosen. And you are right, Thanksgiving colors don’t have to be the jewel-toned Autumn colors. Your beautiful table sets the tone and It’s who you have surrounding you for the holliday that matters….Thanking God for His many blessings. Blessings to you!
