light blog “Light is good from whatever lamp it shines.”
I’m on the hunt for a new lamp for the living room which got me thinking about the lamps I already have. By far, my favorite is this little lamp my mother passed on to me when I got a place of my own. It is a wedding gift they received almost 60 years ago. For all of my childhood, this lamp sat on my mother’s bedside table illuminating a safe path to her side in the late night or early morning hours. It now holds a place of honor on my dining room buffet and it never fails to bring me pleasure when I turn it on.

light blog You can’t go out and buy a lamp filled with memories, but you can use lamps to create a mood, to shine a little light in a dark space, to illuminate a treasure or two in your home. And who knows, maybe one day that old lamp will be treasured by your child or grandchild–not because it cost a lot of money, but because it served as a shining beacon in the place you called home.

So, which lamp in your home really brightens your day?

1. Just bought an elephant lamp for my husband’s office. I think he loves it more than I do!

5. Your lamp sounds quite interesting? What store did you find it in?
I haven’t seen one, but will let you know if I spot it. Maybe some of our readers out there can keep an eye out for you too.
Homegoods is sort of the fleamarket of retail stores so often items are truly “one of a kind” which I ALWAYS love when I get something no one else has, but it’s also a little more challenging when trying to find a match. But don’t give up. I purchased a set of gorgeoous “bee-embroidered” towels for my guest basket. I had wished I could have got a second set (for when I have 2 guests to stay) but they were nowhere to be found around here and then on a visit to see my family in Canada months later Mom and I dropped into HomeSense up there and wouldn’t you know, they had my towels?!! I was SO THRILLED — it was like Christmas. So keep your eyes open as you travel, you just never know where one might show up. On the other hand, maybe you’ll find something similar that will be a great match too. Sure can’t beat that price eh? $40.00 for a lamp — love this store.
