Christmas is on the way and for many of us, that means sharing some special holiday times with our dogs and dog-loving family and friends.

I was shopping in Homegoods this weekend and spotted some of the most adorable doggie gifts. As you can see from the picture, I just had to get a few things for our little papillon, Duke.

Doesn’t he look just darling in this little Santa suit all set to travel with his own little “world traveller” case? Open it up and there’s a food and water dish inside.

Duke’s got a few other things on his wish list, and just in case you have a dog to buy for, come take a look.

* a cozy new doggie bed

* fun holiday wear

* a fashionable coat, t-shirt, or bandanna
* a new collar and leash

* toys (small balls and bones are Duke’s favorite)

* an adorable doggie stocking

* a new food or water bowl

* treats and more treats

(click on any of the pictures to enlarge)

Duke’s open to additional suggestions as well so please share your favorite doggie gift idea.

Of course the best gift you can give your dog is love and affection, but isn’t it fun to spoil them just a little bit at this time of year?!!

Okay, so which Christmas outfit do you think suits Duke best, the Santa Suit or the festive collar?

LOVE IT Do you LOVE IT?

1. That’s great. Only you would write a blog about spoiling dogs. Well at least I know what Dukey wants for a dog’s Christmas this year.

2. Well Duke, it is so difficult to say which outfit is best because you are fabulous in all of them! YOU are the Xmas blessing and bring joy to everyone you meet, YOU are a precious furkid we are so thankful for and we are especially thankful to your mommie and daddy for taking such good care of you!

Happy and Blessed New Year Duke!

4. Hey Duke –
Not everyone can pull off looking good in a Santa suite, but my owner thinks you look adorable in it, and you know that when you are a Papillon, being adorable means getting more presents! Speaking of adorable, I think that picture of you in the red and green collar is going to get you a whole truckload of gifts. I hope your owners have the good sense to make it into their Christmas card.
My owner had no idea that there was cool doggie stuff at Homegoods. Now there is a new place I can pester her to stop at.

6. Well Duke, you look really adorable and festive in both of those outfits, but I guess I would favor the “collar look” on you. My sister’s Sheltie, who does not like to dress-up, wears her holiday bandanas quite happily. So, if you are buying for a dog who bulks at wearing clothing of any sort, that would be my suggestion. So, Happy Holidays to you Duke (you are the cutest, whether you are in costume or not) and to your family as well!!!!!

8. I don’t know, I can never get my cats to wear any of those outfits. They are cute as bugs in their antlers for the ten seconds it takes before they rip ‘em off.
Not being much of a judge of fashion it’s hard to say which is the best outfit, I’m just amazed that the dog puts up with them. Long way from being a wolf, huh, Duke.

9. Hi Mike: Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Yes, it is amazing what dogs will do for us that cats won’t stoop to do. Wishing you and your cats a happy holiday!

10. Well Duke, I always thought you were a cutie, now you have the Christmas clothes to prove it!!! I’d wear the Santa suit on Christmas Day for all your photography friends. Can you play the Easter Bunny too??

11. What a cute puppy Joan,

I bet you guys have so much fun with him. I think he looks adorable in the Santa suit. Love those ears! Nothing like a spoiled dog to want to spoil him more…LOL. Give Duke a hug and enjoy.

12. Lisa and Cathy: Thanks for noticing my inherent “cuteness” the rest is just window dressing. -Duke
