Tree of ThanksWe had lots of fun with our Halloween décor last month – writing the word “BOO” using cylinder vases and flower frogs.  So, I decided to build on the idea for Thanksgiving.

I took a walk through the woods behind our home, and found several branches to serve as trees.  I arranged them in the three vases, anchored by the flower frogs.

Now, about the leaves…there are many ways to do this.  You could buy silk leaves, use real leaves soaked in glycerin to make them soft and pliable, trace hands on colored paper.  Because I wanted a more contemporary look, I simply print out some free coloring pages from a website on white paper and cut them out.  I then used gold ribbon to hang them on the branches.

We will print out a lot more leaves before thanksgiving, and will add a couple leaves at each place setting on Thanksgiving.  Each person will be asked to write down something they are thankful for on each leaf and hang them on the branches.

The Tree of Thanks will be a natural and personal element in our turkey décor this year.  Plus it’s a fun project for kids and grown-ups alike!

So what would you write on your leaf?

1. I am thankful for my life, for it’s ups and downs, for the people in it who love me and are loved by me. I am thankful for waking up each morning and looking forward to whatever the day brings even if it isn’t so great. I am not Pollyanna, just an ordinary person who loves life.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.
