Christmas There has been a flurry of activity inside, and flurries outside. Thanksgiving is over, we are gradually getting over being stuffed with stuffing, and Christmas is now the focus of our attention. There is so much to do in the next twenty four days. Whew!

How are you coming on your decorating? I helped my children decorate their home while I visited last week, and then with the help of my dh and daughter readied our home the day after Thanksgiving. I love decorating for the holidays, everything except the tree. I was very thankful for help this year.

I do like the fact that Christmas ornaments and lights come in many different colors and themes now. There is no need to stick to the traditional red and green unless that is what you desire. So, let’s take a few minutes and discuss some of the other possibilities.

Christmas Tree My children chose to stick with white and gold for their tree, as their furniture is a russet color. We were very pleased with the final outcome. I use burgundy and gold to compliment those colors in my great room.

While out shopping last week I saw aqua and cream holiday decorations that made me imagine completely starting over again. Last year I mentioned in a post that my mom had decorated a tree with pink lights, pink and silver ornaments, and silver tinsel to thrill this little girl’s princess heart. I know people who fill their trees with stuffed animals and toys for a children’s theme, shells for their beach house, or sports items for their favorite teams. You might find a creche, a train, or the expected gifts under the tree.

So, I’ve been thinking . . . with so many possibilities I would love to hear about your trees. Please add a photo, we love to see those beautiful decorations!!

1. Your tree is beautiful Deb. Wish I was that far along. Also the wonderful
nativity under your tree. Very nice!!

Yes, it’s fun to decorate with untraditional themes and colors…a nice change once in a while.

Your Christmas is coming along beautifully!!

2. Great ideas but I am still a traditionalist and we use the same ornaments year after year. I buy Christmas ornaments while on vacation with my family. When we decorate the tree, we talk about the places we’ve been. It’s also the highlight of our annual holiday party and is a great conversation started for friends who don’t know each other but who are checking out the decorations.

3. Cathy, Thanks! I’m still working on staying on schedule this year, so that I might enjoy a more relaxed celebration. I am feeling a little anxious about the shoppinig. Time to put my ideas into action!

Melissa, Thanks for posting the photo of your tree. It’s lovely! There is something wonderful about decorating a tree filled with memories. I have a freind who only decorated with ornaments she had purchased for her children each year to represent that year of their lives. It was darling, and there was so very much to talk about. Thanks for stopping by; for sharing your thoughts and your beautiful tree.

6. I love Christmas decorating, it has become my passion……I have collected ornaments throughout my married life. I even have my children’s first pair of little shoes hanging on the tree. I also collect some sort of an ornament on my travels and add them to the tree and it does make you remember. Also, every ornament that I get from someone always makes me think of them when I place it on my tree.
