I love to decorate for Christmas, but living in a small space means that finding space to put up decorations can be a bit of a challenge. However, we have lots of windows so I decided to dress them for the holidays.

I chose pre-lit artificial Christmas wreaths which I hang inside with ribbons and bows. Once the wreaths are hung I decorate them with ornaments. This gives us our small space a very festive look without sacrificing an inch of living space. If you have curious toddlers or cats this might be a great option for decorating your home as well.

The first wreath shown is one that is slowly evolving into a symbolic representation of the first Christmas story. Finding these ornaments has proved to be more of a challenge but each year I manage to find something new to add. (you can click on the pics to enlarge)

The second wreath has a “storybook” theme and features treasured ornaments from my childhood along with more recent additions. I’m working on a few new themes, but those I’ll save for another time.

It gets dark so early here in Boston in the winter and I just love how the lights glow at dusk chasing a little of that darkness away.

How do you dress your windows for the holidays?

2. Love it! This is a great idea also for those who will be traveling over the holidays and opt not to put up a full tree.

We did something similar (w/o the lights) on our dining room windows. Adds just a little something extra to the room!

3. Hi Crystal: Thanks for your comment — I love them too.
Susan, we are one of the ones who travel over the holidays which is another reason why decorated wreaths work better for us than a tree. And I agree, it sure brings Christmas into any room.

4. I love how you have decorated your windows. I’ll have to try that with some of my fav ornies that I no longer use on my other themed trees!

5. Thanks for the TX hugs and your kind comment. Great idea for using up those extra ornaments and having them at eye-level they get featured even more than when hanging on the tree. Enjoy!!
