I actually like to keep holiday decor simple.  Here is this year’s mantle display – do you recognize the clear vases with branches?  I used those vases in the kitchen with flower frogs for Halloween (to spell out “BOO”) and in the dining room at Thanksgiving (as a “Tree of Thanks”).  Now they’ve been promoted to the family hearth.

I’m not quite done with this project yet.  I plan to add some fresh greenery for a pine aroma (to mask the fact that we have a fake tree), and I’m thinking about spray painting the branches silver.  Any other suggestions?

1. Hii Susan, I love the look. My mom used to keep a small tree in our dining room that she cut in the woods near our house. It was decorated for each season, and the bare branches allowed the decorations to be featured . . . hearts for Valentine’s Day, eggs for Easter, red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July. The possibilities are endless.

2. I love the way it looks just like it is. Simple and clean, yet colorful enough to make quite a statement. I’m going to try it on my fireplace just as your picture portrays. Thanks for the stunning idea!

3. If you like the effect of snow on the branches you could add some white glitter.

4. Hi Deb!

What a great idea! I could also use things like acorns, pine cones, etc. to mix it up a bit. Isn’t nature a great design element!
