dining room christmas

Today is Christmas Eve. I have spent the day preparing some foods for tomorrow. There will be six of us for dinner. I love doing as much as I can before the day of the party or dinner. It makes the day stress free. Many of the foods can be prepared ahead and just heated right before putting them on the table. But my most favorite thing to do the day before the holiday or party is set the table. That way I can take the time to iron the linen table cloth and napkins. Fiddle with the centerpiece. Add and substact until I get the arrangement just right.

For this Christmas I am using some glittery reindeer, a old world looking sleigh and beautiful beaded fruit. I have sprinkled small gold ornaments along the center of the table and some glittery stars (they were actually name tags). Next, I scattered some small white candles in clear glass holders about. I hung some small ornaments from the chandelier above the table.

For dishes, I have mixed and matched red and blue transferware with some red glass plates. Petite crystal salt cellers and little silver salt spoons grace each place setting. Crystal wine glasses and red glass goblets and vintage silverware finish the setting. For place setting name tags, I have added a present to each of my guest place, with their names written on the glittery gold stars.

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas. Thank you all for taking the time in your busy lives to stop by and visit me here. I look forward to visiting with all of you this coming year. Merry Christmas!

6. It looks great, Penny. I love how you hung the ornaments from the chandelier. That is something I always mean to try, but never get to it. You have inspired me with your photo.

8. Before Christmas I went into our new local store, I found the perfect snowglobe for my son, it had 2 black dogs by an old red truck with trees and snow. His dog Bella came from Mammoth Mtn. and loves the snow and Bella’s best dog friend is slinky who is also black. I had to go to another Home Goods store to find 2 more globes so all of us could have one. It is like a photo of the 2 best friend dogs.

9. Dear Penny,
Just found this website and your lovely post, but have visited my local store occasionally. We’ve had our first wonderful deep snowfall of the winter today and revisiting Christmas seems more than appropriate at the moment. Your dining room looks to be rather small in size (as is mine) which makes for lovely intimate gatherings, and the warm attention to detail in your beautiful Christmas setting so richly enhances the lovely, cozy ambiance. Thanks for the inspiration. I look forward to checking back with you often.
