These days digital cameras have made the organizing, storage and sharing of photos a lot easier than it used to be, but most of us still have bags and boxes of prints from the days when film was the fashion. Our photos prompt our memories of special people, places and events and deserve to be well-organized and displayed.
The first place I put my photos when I get them is into pretty photo storage boxes like the one shown here. I like to sort my pictures by event or person but you can also sort them by date. These boxes are easy to stack on an open shelf or on a closet shelf and they’ll help to keep your photos safe and organized. If you plan to leave your photos in storage for many years you may want to invest in archival quality photo boxes.
I also like to display photos around our home so we can look at them from time to time and share them with friends and family.

These decorative photo storage frames are a great idea for showcasing a single holiday or event. We have a Caribbean getaway stored in one and pictures of friends in another. They can be a fun place to keep Christmas photos or even pictures of the family pets.
Then there are scrapbook albums which I love to create as well. The album shown here showcases the trips I took with my nephew and neices for their 18th birthdays.

It’s also a great idea to incorporate some of your favorite photos into your decorating. I’m planning to create some unique coasters with a few of my favorite architectural photos and I’ve also got plans for enlarging some travel pictures to create art for our spare bedroom/office. I’ll share these projects with you when they are completed.
I’d love to hear how you organize, store and display your photos –what neat ideas do you have for showcasing your favorites??
1. We have moved to a Smaller home it’s hard to know where to put things now. I have yet to put up any pictures with 12 kids between us my Husband wants all the high school pictures up. He doesn’t understand how cluttered it looks and the frames are awful. At our bigger House I had a long hallway so that is where I put them now, no hall and very small living room. We went from 6 bedrooms to 2 thank God its just us two at home now. Iam trying the frames with multi slots for family photos. Its all I can think of any Suggestions. thank you Nonia

2. Hi Nonia: What a family man your husband is and how sweet he loves to have your families prominently displayed. I’m wondering if you could take the pictures out of their current frames and put them in one of those large frames that hold multiple pictures? They sell them at HomeGoods and other housewares stores and you can get some that will hold a dozen photos.
Alternatively, try painting all the frames the same color (black or gold depending on your decor). To find a visually pleasing arrangement on the wall you could cut each of the frame sizes out of brown craft paper and then tape those to the wall so you can decide what layout will look best. Then you can hammer your picture hooks through the craft paper and tear the paper off and put the corresponding frame on the hook.
Another idea is to mount two picture rails sort of staggered on the wall and place your pictures on the rail (it’s okay if one or two overlap) for a more casual feel. This allows you to easily update the family photos as well.
One final thought, see if your husband would be open to the idea of a Family Photo Album prominently displayed on your coffee table instead of pictures on the wall.
Hope one of these ideas works for you. Let me know,
