orderly inspiration 001 1I am, (even if it is ever so slowly) between work and projects, getting my home office-slash-creative-workspace organized…and I am loving the results so far. (click on the photos to see the entire picture) I painted the room and foofied it up about a year ago (see my post with pictures here.) and then I had an idea about three months ago that I finally got time to tackle this past weekend.

I gathered up some clipboards I had and hung them under my huge bulletin-board-turned-inspiration board that I discovered at HomeGoods. I tagged the clipboards with labels for various categories, (to-do lists, receipts and such, and Calendars, time lines and deadlines) with high hopes that this might help with keeping things somewhat neat. (and keep me on track!) I moved the slip covered old piano bench under the set up and I am now going to be on the look-out for a perfectly sized old dresser for storage to replace it on the other side of the room, between my two book cases.

I am feeling inspired now to stay on track and create things, just looking at this charming little set up! I really like the way it all turned out; attractive and functional…not bad for about ten minutes of work, huh?

1. I love the clipboard idea! RIght now I have piles of paperwork (tax stuff, medical bills, etc.) this would make my piles LOOK so much more orderly and it is a way better idea than my junk drawer. Thanks for the idea

4. Tracey, how did you make & print those cute little labels on your clipboards? I love the way that looks.

5. Your room looks great! I used similar clipboards that I got for next to nothing at Michaels and decoupaged scrapbook papers on them after giving them a basecoat of antique white. Very easy and fun!

6. Hi Tracey,

I’m a huge fan of clipboards…I’m going to try that. And I love your word “foofied” - I think I’ll use it today. ;)

7. What clever ideas you have. Just as an aside, I noticed the time you posted your message and pics, Tracey, then went on to check the others. Interesting, isn’t it, when we each have time for our “escapes”?

8. Love the clipboards and the “I Love Grandma” bib…just added two new boys this years to the family…two daughters each had a boy 2 months apart…busy time but happy.
Wish my stack of books looked that good!

9. I so enjoyed these ideas and this post on organizing. I am currently trying to get my jewelry design studio organized, but sometimes it feels like a loss cause. Thanks for the inspiration and ideas.

10. Where did you get the slip cover for the bench, did you make it? I have been looking for a bench for under a couple of windows and this would be perfect. Just found your blog today and am really enjoying all your ideas, what a find that was for your work room.
