My dear friend is allowing me to share her photos of the makeover of their master bedroom suite. I think she did a fabulous job! A couple of weeks ago a reader asked me for suggestions of ways to make a master bedroom romantic without making it girly. I thought that was a great question, and it has me doing some thinking as well as some investigating.

This project is a good example of one possibility. This bedroom and bath were decorated with a Victorian theme. There were several large floral arrangements, neutral colors, a few antiques, and lots of lace. It was lovely and worked well for my friend before she had her children.

Five boys and one daughter later, she was looking for something a little more family friendly and this Safari theme fits the bill. So often we think that a complete change is going to wreak havoc on our finances; however, she managed to make these great changes with paint and accessories for the most part. The only major purchases were the nightstands and the artwork over the bed.

We had great fun shopping for some of the accessories together.  I really like the open suitcase she chose for extra towels and soaps, and adding candles and greenery finished the space off perfectly.

So, now we’re looking for your ideas. What have you done in your bedroom to make it romantic without having it look like your daughter’s room? A mistake I have unfortunately made in the past. LOL We would love to hear from you, and if you have a pic or two add them as well.

LOVE IT Do you LOVE IT?

2. Hi Joan! He does love it! He liked the concept so much that he even got involved in some of the decisions. He also gets the credit for the beautiful new color on the walls. They worked as a team, and I think the result is fabulous.

4. Hi Samantha! Yes, we did paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the wall color. I absolutely loved the paint color when I saw it at a lighting store and bought the same shade they had used. I believe it is called something like Tamataki tan. I will see if I still have the exact name and brand for you and I’ll post it.
