On Saturday my husband and I went to the New England Home Show. There were lots of great vendors with lots of great products and ideas but I was especially drawn to those who were encouraging folks to put a “new face” on their uglies. There was everything from Kitchen Cabinet Refacing to Carpet Refurbishing.
So, for those of you who didn’t make it to the show, here are a few of the great ideas I saw for concealing the “uglies” in your home.
Let’s start with the old ugly bath or shower stall, Bath Fitter and Re-Bath are two companies that provide great cover-ups for your old tub and tile. and with a lot less fuss and mess then tearing out and replacing the whole tub or shower.

Does your home have one or more of those ugly old heating devices? Well, those ugly electric baseboard heaters can get a face lift from Go-overboard . And the Wooden Radiator Cabinet Co. make such gorgeous and useful radiator covers that you’ll wish you had an ugly old radiator to cover. You can even add a bookcase on top or turn it into a media center. Amazing!

And for those of you who have old retro-style kitchen cabinets, why not just keep the cupboards and take your kitchen from blah to beautiful by adding Retro Appliances?
Well, like I said, they may not be “cheap” solutions, but I thought they were all pretty clever ways of dealing with the “uglies”.
How have you concealed the uglies in your home?
1. How do you hide the mass of electric cords left from the cables from the tv cable company and vcr - there are a ton of them and they look so awful behind the buffet that the tv sets on?

2. Hi Iga: Sorry for my delay in responding but I was on vacation last week. Your question is a good one and one I hear often. Life hacker has a great post on 10 ways to organize your cables. You can check out the solutions here http://lifehacker.com/364054/top-10-ways-to-get-cables-under-control
and see what might work best in your situation.
Let me know if that helps,
