guest bedding

I’ve always dreamed of having a lovely hotel-suite style bedroom for guests to enjoy but the reality is that our guest-bed is a fold-out futon in the home office.

Last summer I started to gather ideas for getting organized for guests and you all shared some fabulous tips on things you do to make your guests feel comfortable and welcome. They were all such great ideas which I’ve incorporated into my little guest basket now as well.

But, since we don’t have a permanent guest bed, I’ve just used any spare linens at hand to make up the futon bed when company arrives. Our poor guests usually got to sleep on mismatched linens from my husband’s bachelor days (need I say more). But this year it dawned on me that I could still choose to have lovely guest bedding even if it wasn’t going to be on display all the time.

With the great prices at HG on their “hotel collection” bedding, I was able to get that hotel chic feeling on a futon budget (click on picture top right). Our old linens were donated via HomeGoods blanket drive for the homeless.

So, when my sister came to stay this month she was greeted with our lovely new look–the “before” picture (lower left) shows what a dramatic change it was. Oh yes, she was pleasantly surprised. Which bed looks more welcoming to you?

Anyone else out there with a pull-out couch, futon or air mattress? How do you transform your temporary bed to create a beautiful place for your guests to retire?

1. When my sister got marriied last yea r we where having some overnite quest I purchased a coleman air mattress that was really nice I got it on sale for 99.00 and it is nicer then some folks beds so once I put deep pocket sheets and and a comforter that I found on sale and put it in a corner and it looked awesome it was like it belonged I moved some things to the side left a small table and lamp and it was as if it was a small guest room / area . The co;mforter was saying something and the area just shined . It just goes to show you that you can make do with what you have if you use your head and sense of style !!

2. I’m new to Home Goods and just getting familiarized with it when I ran into your blog. I am beginning from scratch to furnish and decorate a small condo and am on a very tight budget. I am planning to use a futon for the guest bedroom/office, too, so I appreciate this idea and tip about the hotel collection. I’m really looking forward to putting it altogether. We will be moving in around the first of May.

5. I am also new to Homegoods and I love the choices and prices I found so far. My husband and I just purchased two BEAUTIFUL lamps and artwork that at any other major department stores or online would have been double the price. I do have a request from my fellow HG shoppers, I am in the proces of redesigning my master bedroom and the guest room and I love the Hotel Collection bedding, however I am looking for some particular styles that I only found at Macy’s.com so far and would like anyone who comes across it during their HG shopping to (let me know). The pictures of the styles are below. Thank you so much and I appreciate your help in advance. Your enthusiastic HG shopper.

6. Hi Kisha: Welcome to Homegoods and sounds like you’ve gotten some great deals already.
Your photos did not come through on your comment so not sure what you are looking for with bedding but I hope you find it.
