Bender shower 001Whether you’re entertaining friends or simply serving up a meal for the family, the taste of the food isn’t all that’s important. Presentation can make all the difference in the mood of the table, and make your food look even better.

Everyone that knows me knows that I am a little….um…shall we say… cupcake obsessed. With that being said, cupcakes, miniature flags and cake stands go hand in hand and I am always looking for new and different cake pedestals and serving trays.

I was thrilled to find this cream colored double tired wire stand at HomeGoods a while back. It immediately became my favorite and most used tray because of it’s simplicity and it’s casual cottage appeal- not too fussy or pretentious. (It would also work perfectly for holding little sandwiches or two pies!)

Be sure and keep your eyes open when you’re out and about for unique serving pieces! Then, you can make any meal special.

1. Lovely post. You are so right, the serving dishes can do so much. Presentation is everything.

2. Just beautiful!.. and I agree about the stands. I have 3-4 stands and at least 4 footed cake platters from Homegoods. I do think that taste matters, since there is a local bakery that makes the most beautiful cupcakes but they taste like saw dust. It’s sort of like seeing a really beautiful woman and then she is as stupid as a brick. A disapointment indeed!

5. we have been in the caterring business for about 30 years; over 1/3 of how something tastes, is actually based on appearance = how it looks!!!
thus the reason that usually at pig roasts, the meat is carved off the carcass out of sight of the guests ;-p
When you used tiered stands, and compote bowls mixed with flat platters, and bowls sitting on the table, you add three dimension effect to the appearance, which is always a bonus!
Top all of that with a little garnish - whether it be fancy frosting and flags or candy; or something else; and you’ll have definetly achieved a top rating for your 1/3 of the taste part =)

6. Hi Tracey:
I’m convinced you could make bread and water look appetizing — you have such an artistic flair in how you present your food and especially your lovely cupcakes.
You are the one who first inspired me to try my hand at making cupcakes - although I do just the little ones, “fairy cakes”. Mine NEVER look as gorgeous as yours but at least they usually taste pretty good. You inspire me to work more on my presentation. thanks,
joan
