I visited my daughter earlier this week. We had a great time going through closets. It was time to organize and simplify. We felt quite satisfied with our accomplishments, and sharing some good laughs helped to make it fun!

Speaking of simplicity, this is a photo of her entryway.  I love the look of simple elegance. So often less is more when it comes to decorating. I have had times when I am being cost conscious and try to fill a space with a collection of less expensive items. That can work, but I have to be careful that I don’t spend just as much or more on multiples as I would on one beautiful piece. The reflection in the mirror is of the artwork on the opposite wall, which has a single iris in the center. The way the mirror captures both the vase and wall art give depth to the space and tie the look together. If you would like to see more of her design style check out  . . . 2. Your very kind! Thanks Joan! Our style is very different in that she loves Contemporary and I love Early American/Traditional, but I do love the way she puts things together. It’s been fun to watch her make her own statement.

3. I just love the entryway! I agree – less is more. I have a mantle that I was trying to work with in my living room and getting nowhere with it. Then it hit me – stop trying to put too much up there – it looks great. I love the clean, airy feeling in your picture – with the mirror – just beautiful! Good job!

4. Thanks Tricia, I am discovering that as I pare down the excess I am enjoying what I have even more. When there is too much, everything blends together and individual pieces get lost. I have done a better job lately of grouping collections. The more I simplify the more I relax and enjoy. It’s funny – like I came up with a new idea! LOL We would love to see a photo of your mantel if you get a chance.

5. Oh My Gosh!!! I have the exact entry table like your daughter. I took off the panel under the table’s legs for softer touch. Thanks for sharing :)
