Even though we technically won’t enter Summer for several weeks. Most of us tend to think of Memorial Day Weekend as the kick off to Summer fun.
It’s warm here in the Midwest, and it won’t be long before the AC goes on as the temperatures continue to rise. This is one of my favorite times of the year. It has been warm during the day, and cool at night. I love having the windows open, even though all of the tree pollens come wafting in through the screens.
As I looked around my home this week, I noticed how the window views from outside were reflected in the mirrors throughout the house. I love trees and the soothing aspect of the color green. I realized that I enjoy seeing those colors not only through what I could see out the windows, but also as the woods are reflected throughout the rooms by well placed mirrors. The ultimate feeling I get is one of being surrounded by the outside.
The large mirror over the fireplace was here when we purchased this home. I love it! The previous owners ordered it to follow the slant in the ceiling, and it follows a line right into the entryway to the kitchen. The window shaped mirror over the loveseat is a new purchase. It was time to replace the berry wreath which filled that spot for that past five years.
Keep your eyes open for mirrors of unique shapes and sizes. Then as you place them around your home consider not only their placement on the wall, but what will be seen in the reflection as well.
Happy decorating! Happy Memorial Day!!
1. Fantastic idea (& your home is beautiful). Mirrors are in vogue again after many yrs. I remember way back when everyone had a mirror over their sofa. Wish I could see the slant in your wall better since I have a slanted wall as well.

2. Thank you so much Rachel!! I am adding a photo of the mirror wall so you can see the slant. I believe the previous owners ordered it through a glass company. It was the one thing we requested would remain when they moved out. It adds so much width to the room, and with the window wall to the back we can see the woods from almost any angle on the room upstairs or down. Thanks for your kind words. Let us know what you decide about your wall slant.
