Box, Cards, and Tally Pad It is that time of year again when we plan our Summer travel. Many of us will be visiting friends and family as part of our vacation getaways. It is always fun to spend some time with those we aren’t able to see very often sharing memories and catching up after time apart.

I’ve been thinking about the kinds of things I would like to take as gifts to share upon my arrival. As I was out earlier today, I came upon this great set of items: a photo box, playing cards, and a tally pad. I thought they would make a great gift, and give us something to do if we run out of conversation. (Which is not very likely!)

I started thinking about other possibilites:

  • If those you are visiting have a pool or live by the beach - a couple of beautiful beach towels would be great.
  • If they love pets - a little treat for Tabby or Ruff would be appreciated.
  • Do they spend the Summer months on their patio ? An assortment of plastic plates, trays, glasses, etc. would certainly be a hit.
  • Another use for the photo albums we talked about a few weeks ago would be to give one to your hosts with the promise to send them pictures from your visit.
  • Every guest bath needs beautiful finger tip towels, and a hostess can never have too many!!

Okay, now it’s your turn. Please share things you have given to your hosts in the past, or new ideas you are going to try this year. There are so many ways we can show our appreciation to those who open their homes to us.

Happy Visiting!!

1. I like to put together an ice cream basket - with pretty bowls or soda glasses (try the local dollar store!), soda spoons and straws, sprinkles, ice cream syrups and toppings. A gift certificate to a local ice cream stand is always a nice added touch!
